Upgrade the air-ride pin box on your fifth-wheel trailer to this cushioned model that requires no maintenance, unlike pin boxes with air bags. Rubber spring dampens road shock and reduces back-and-forth chucking for a relaxed towing experience.

Specs:
Most standard pin boxes are constructed of steel and are built with the sole purpose of connecting your fifth-wheel trailer to your tow vehicle. There is no cushioning built in, so a factory pin box doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable ride when you're hauling your fifth-wheel trailer.
This MORryde pin box, however, is built with an internal rubber spring that absorbs road shock and vibration at the connection point. So if you're driving on unpaved roads or uneven pavement, this pin box will prevent any road shock and vibration you encounter from transferring from your tow vehicle to your fifth-wheel trailer and vice versa. In other words, the rubber spring takes the brunt of the impact so you and your towing setup don't have to.
Pin boxes with internal air bags require consistent maintenance to maintain the proper air pressure and ensure there are no leaks. Because this unit uses a rubber spring instead of an air bag, there's no maintenance required.
The internal rubber shear spring in this pin box is optimized for trailers that range from 18,001 to 24,000 lbs to ensure that it provides just the right amount of shock absorption for your application. If this pin box were to be used on a larger trailer, the spring would be too stiff to provide enough cushion. And if your trailer's GVWR was less than 18,000 lbs, then the spring would be too flexible to provide adequate support.
Chucking, the back-and-forth jerking movement you feel in your cab when towing with a standard pin box, occurs most frequently during starts and stops and while making turns. A typical, factory pin box creates a rigid connection without much give. So when a harsh stop occurs, all of the trailer's forward momentum gets forced through that stiff connection, slamming the king pin in the hitch and jerking your truck around.
To combat this, glide pads are built into the MORryde pin box that allow the skid plate to shift up to 3" forward and backward and 1-1/2" side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so that you don't have to feel it in your cab.
This MORryde pin box is a direct replacement for your existing Lippert 1621SHD Trailair pin box, so the installation is very straightforward. After removing your old Lippert pin box, the MORryde can be mounted into place using the same hardware and bolt holes used by your pin box.
Because of the weight of the unit, you'll want a couple of friends to help you lift it into place during installation. Once the hardware is securely bolted down, you'll be ready to go.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this MORryde cushioned 5th wheel pin box for the Lippert 1621SHD Trailair pin boxes. Now, this is built for trailers that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 18,000 to 24,000 pounds. This is a nice cushioned pin box that will replace your current one, to give you a lot smoother towing experience. And as we mentioned, this is designed to replace the Lippert 1621SHD Trailair pin box.
This'll let you enjoy a nice chuck-free, jerk-free ride, thanks to the rubber shear spring that's on the inside. Basically, that rubber shear spring will help reduce back and forth chucking. It'll absorb any jarring movement at the connection point. And it dampens up to 1 1/2 inches of side to side movement, and up to three inches of front to back movement. I do wanna zoom in just to show you where that shear spring's located.
You won't be able to see it, but basically it's right up under here, centered right above the king pin. And that rubber shear spring will help dampen the transmission of forces from the 5th wheel to the vehicle. Makes your starts and stops jerk-free. And also what's nice, it requires less maintenance than some of the air-filled spring model pin boxes that are out there. It will give you the same king pin location as the original manufacturer to reduce stress on your trailer frame.
And this is a nice, fast, easy bolt-on installation. What you wanna do is when you do install this, you want to make note of the bolt hole locations of the factory pin box because you wanna mount this pin box in those same hole settings using the existing factory hardware. This does exceed the CSA standards. It is made in the USA. Application, again, this is for 5th wheel trailers with 18,000 to 24,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating.
Total weight capacity on this pin box is 24,000 pounds. But you do want to remember that the pin box capacity will not change the overall gross vehicle weight rating of your trailer. Last thing I want to give you is a few measurements. The width on this, outside the outside on the pin box, it's right at 12 inches. And then we're gonna measure from the center of the king pin to the center of the front row holes, and in the center of the king pin to the center of the back row holes. I did make a markup here that we're gonna use that sort of center of the king pin is. And if we go right there to the front row is 19 3/4 inches. That's to the center of the front row of holes. And then if we go from there, it's gonna be right at 27 5/8 inches to the center of the back row holes. But that should do it for the review on the MORryde cushioned 5th wheel pin box for the Lippert 1621SHD Trailair pin boxes..

I changed out the Rhino pin box with the MORryde cushioned pin box. Wow… What a difference, smoother starts, stops and bumpy roads were so much smoother. 100% better ride quality.
The price was good. Customer service was great. Shipping and tracking was excellent.
Dramatically reduced chucking as hoped. There is more start/stop slop than I had expected but I'm guessing that is due to my trailer being at the top of the weight rating for the rubber block. I need to put a camera on it to verify my theory. All in all a huge improvement.
Briele was very helpful making sure I received the correct pin box, it was delivered 4 days before the estimated delivery date. Install took about 30 minutes. Great experience with etrailer
We used to have a lot of slop with our hitch and that has lessened immensely since our purchase of the MORryde pin box.
No chucking with this pin box! Noticeable improvement when towing my 17k trailer. Replaced a GenY gooseneck that cushened vertical movement but didn't do anything for horizontal movement.
I just picked up my GD Reflection 324 today after getting the new pin box installed. Honestly, I don't know why all fifth wheels don't come with this installed (other than it would cost the manufacturer more to add it at the factory). On my '24 F250, all of the shaking and jerking was gone, with the exception of a very bad rail crossing with a torn up railbed. We're planning on a spring break trip next week with the grandkids and it will be much more relaxing getting there.
Perfect fit , I’m traveling this weekend and the trailer feels amazing
Not to difficult of an install. Took a bit of research to find out the torque specs for the hardware I had. Took it for a short test ride. Will know more in two weeks when we take the trailer for the first trip with the cushioned box.
The Morryde rubberized pin box made a world of difference in the ride we get now! Highly recommended !
We have gone over 2000 miles and the MoRyde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box fot the Lippert Rhino and it works great!! What a difference it made in pulling my 5th wheel trailer!! It was the best investment I made for my 5th Wheel !! Easy to install if you’re handy! I would highly recommend this product!!
The Moryde pin box exceeded my expectations on eliminating chucking over the factory Rotaflex pin box. When Braking or accelerating our 16,000 lb Montana all the banging noise from the pin box is gone, making an Improved ride in the cab. Note it does seem to benefit from the larger low friction lube plate verses the smaller friction plate the Rotaflex pin box utilized.
So far very nice. I was able to install it myself using my pickup bed,a small hydraulic car jack, and a big I made. The whole process of removing old and installing new took about 45 minutes. Everything lined up beautifully. Hooking up to receiver was standard. Took a 10 mile test run. Not disappointed.
This is the first thing I would ever buy For any fifth wheel that I have. There is a big difference with this system. It saves on your truck, fifth wheel and your passengers when traveling down the road. I have installed it and the spring of 2026. You can install it by yourself as long as you’re a little mechanically inclined and can squat a little bit of weight. Have hauled the fifth wheeler to three different camping locations and have not had an issue. It takes away all the clunking and vibration. Looking forward to hauling it to Yellowstone. I highly recommend this!
Customer service was very helpful in tracking down my order. They said they were going to call me back when they found out some more information. They called back within the hour. Very happy with etrailer Customer service
I replaced my rhino pinbox on my 5th wheel with the morryde pinbox. I had this on my other trailer and it worked great. This setup works just as good as before.
Quality products, no problem swapping out OEM Lippert Rhino Box for MORryde cushioned hitch. Even upgraded "pin plate" in order to attach Andersen hitch. Not towing camper until 1 August, so I can not comment on hitch capability. Before upgrade, towed camper about 30 miles from dealer to campsite w/ original Andersen set up, a little to much "hitching" and bumping. That's why I upgraded to the Morryde cushioned hitch. Still trying to figure out optimal location to install hitch ball connect/disconnect handle.
I installed this today on my Grand Design Reflection 303. Talking with rep they recommend the 1621HD. I kinda think I should have gotten the lighter unit. My 303 GVWR is 11995 lbs. the HD is good heavier units.
I still helps, I towed it today and I noticed some improvement. I would consider getting the lighter unit if I had it to do again.
This pin box arrived on time and the box was in very good condition. The freight company used their lift gate to put the pallet into the bed of my pickup. That made it possible for this 63 year old to uninstall the old and install the new single handedly.
My main complaint with the old pin box was chucking. I’ve now towed more than a thousand miles with the Morryde. While the chucking has improved it has not been eliminated. I would say it has been reduced about 50%. Bridge abutments are less harsh. Concrete roadway gallop much improved. A significant improvement but not what I had hoped for based on other reviews.
We recently purchased a new camper from an individual who had added a gooseneck adapter. We purchased the MORryde cushioned pin box and took it with us when we picked up the camper - we changed it out in the driveway in about one hour. The ride home was very smooth. We have some rough bridge transitions in our area and the MORryde handled them with ease.
I have had this pin box before on other campers and loved it so when we got our new camper this was the first upgrade that I wanted.
A tip to an easy install, lock it in your hitch first then back it right into your camper. I shored up the head with a 2x4.
Easy to install, haven't pulled with it yet so can't say how it works
From a rigid pin box to a cushioned pin box big improvement
