Upgrade the air-ride pin box on your fifth-wheel trailer to this cushioned model that requires no maintenance, unlike pin boxes with air bags. Rubber spring dampens road shock and reduces back-and-forth chucking for a relaxed towing experience.

Specs:
Most standard pin boxes are constructed of steel and are built with the sole purpose of connecting your fifth-wheel trailer to your tow vehicle. There is no cushioning built in, so a factory pin box doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable ride when you're hauling your fifth-wheel trailer.
This MORryde pin box, however, is built with an internal rubber spring that absorbs road shock and vibration at the connection point. So if you're driving on unpaved roads or uneven pavement, this pin box will prevent any road shock and vibration you encounter from transferring from your tow vehicle to your fifth-wheel trailer and vice versa. In other words, the rubber spring takes the brunt of the impact so you and your towing setup don't have to.
Pin boxes with internal air bags require consistent maintenance to maintain the proper air pressure and ensure there are no leaks. Because this unit uses a rubber spring instead of an air bag, there's no maintenance required.
Although this pin box can tow up to 24,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that range from 14,001 to 18,000 lbs. A rubber spring built for 24,000-lb trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for an 14,000-lb trailer, while a rubber spring built for 14,000-lb trailers would be too flexible for a 24,000-lb trailer. To get the best results from this cushioned pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer in the 14,001-lb to 18,000-lb range.
Chucking, the back-and-forth jerking movement you feel in your cab when towing with a standard pin box, occurs most frequently during starts and stops and while making turns. A typical, factory pin box creates a rigid connection without much give. So when a harsh stop occurs, all of the trailer's forward momentum gets forced through that stiff connection, slamming the king pin in the hitch and jerking your truck around.
To combat this, glide pads are built into the MORryde pin box that allow the skid plate to shift up to 3" forward and backward and 1-1/2" side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so that you don't have to feel it in your cab.
This MORryde pin box is a direct replacement for your existing Lippert 1621SHD Trailair pin box, so the installation is very straightforward. After removing your old Lippert pin box, the MORryde can be mounted into place using the same hardware and bolt holes used by your pin box.
Because of the weight of the unit, you'll want a couple of friends to help you lift it into place during installation. Once the hardware is securely bolted down, you'll be ready to go.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this MORryde cushion fifth wheel pin box for the Lippert 1621 SHD Trailair pin boxes. Now this is built for trailers that have a gross vehicle weight rating from 14,000 to 18,000 pounds, and this cushion pin box will replace your current one for a lot smoother towing experience. And as we mentioned, it is designed to replace the Lippert 1621 SHD Trailair pin boxes. This will let you enjoy a nice chuck-free, jerk-free ride thanks to the rubber shear spring that's on the inside of this, and rubber shear spring will reduce any back and forth chucking. It absorbs any jarring movement at the connection point, and it'll dampen up to 1-1/2 inches of side to side movement and up to three inches of front to back movement.
I wanted to zoom in just to show you the area where that rubber shear spring is. Can't really see it because it's up and under here, it's centered right above the king pin, right here. But, basically, that shear spring in there will dampen the transmission of forces from the fifth wheel to the vehicle, so it makes your starts and stops jerk-free. What's also nice, it requires less maintenance than your air filled spring model pin boxes. Now the king pin, it'll give you the same king pin location as the original manufacturer, helps reduce stress on your trailers frame.
And this is a very fast, and easy bolt on installation. Now when you do install this, you do want to make note of the bolt hole locations of the factory pin box, because you wanna mount this pin box in those same hole settings using the existing factory hardware. This does exceed the CSA standards. It is made in the USA. Few specs again, this is for fifth wheel trailers with a 14,000 to 18,000 pound gross vehicle weight rating.
Total weight capacity on this is 24,000 pounds. Now one thing you need to remember, is this pin box capacity will not change the overall gross vehicle weight rating of your trailer. And then the last thing I wanna do is just give you some measurements on this pin box. The width of it, from outside to outside, right at 12 inches, and then we're going to measure from the center of the kingpin to the center of the front row of holes, and then the center of the kingpin to the center of the back row of holes. So I made a mark up here where the center of the king pin would be.
So right there you can see, to the front row is 19-3/4 inches, and to the back row is 27-5/8 inches. But that should do it for the review on the MORryde cushion fifth wheel pin box for the Lippert 1621 SHD Trailair pin boxes..
