Recommended MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box for a Lippert 1116 Bolt Pattern

Question:

Does a 8ft bed truck use a longer pin box than a 6ft bed truck?

No, it does not Ron. The length of the pin box will give you more or less turning clearance on a short bed truck but the length of the truck bed doesn't influence what pin box you choose with a 8' bed. You'll have plenty of turning clearance so you'll want to focus on comfort when upgrading and compatibility with your 5th wheel hitch.

The MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box item # MR77VR, you were looking at, fits a Lippert 1116 pin box. It works with trailer's weighing between 11,500 lbs - 14,000 lbs. The king pin is going to sit in the same place as the one on the factory pin box.

What kind of 5th wheel trailer do you have and do you know what pin box bolt pattern is on it?

Hey Ron, did you get a chance to check which pin box bolt pattern your 5th wheel trailer has? Once you have that info, I can help confirm if the MORryde cushioned pin box is the right fit. Let me know what you find.

thanks for your follow up. The reason for my question was because with my old trailer ( 1988 Kit Roadranger) I had plenty of room between the trailer and the tailgate of the truck when the gate was lowered and you could back into the trailer without having to worry about hitting it. I still use the old set up in my 2000 Ford super duty. I have pulled my old 29 foot 5th wheel with a Mastercraft ski boat attached to the trailer for years and had no issues. so now I have a 2012 32 foot attitude toyhauler and I need to stop part way in and raise the tail gate and that is the reason for my question. I know the previous trailer owner had a short bed truck. I should mention that the truck setup is the same one I used in 1988 when I bought my old 5th wheel trailer.
