Upgrade the factory pin box on your fifth-wheel trailer to this cushioned model that dampens road shock and reduces back-and-forth chucking for a more relaxed towing experience. Unlike air bags, the internal rubber spring requires no maintenance.

Specs:
Most standard pin boxes are constructed of steel and are built with the sole purpose of connecting your fifth-wheel trailer to your tow vehicle. There is no cushioning built in, so a factory pin box doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable ride when you're hauling your fifth-wheel trailer.
This MORryde pin box, however, is built with an internal rubber spring that absorbs road shock and vibration at the connection point. So if you're driving on unpaved roads or uneven pavement, this pin box will prevent any road shock and vibration you encounter from transferring from your tow vehicle to your fifth-wheel trailer and vice versa. In other words, the rubber spring takes the brunt of the impact so you and your towing setup don't have to. And because this unit uses a rubber spring instead of an internal air bag like some other upgraded pin boxes, there's no maintenance required.
Although this pin box can tow up to 18,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that are under 11,500 lbs. A rubber spring built for 18,000-lb trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for a trailer under 11,500 lbs, while a rubber spring built for trailers under 11,500 lbs would be too flexible for a 18,000-lb trailer.
Chucking, the back-and-forth jerking movement you feel in your cab when towing, occurs most frequently during starts and stops and while making turns. A typical, factory pin box creates a rigid connection without much give. So when a harsh stop occurs, all of the trailer's forward momentum gets forced through that stiff connection, slamming the king pin in the hitch and jerking your truck around.
To combat this, glide pads are built into the MORryde pin box that allow the skid plate to shift up to 3" forward and backward and 1-1/2" side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so that you don't have to feel it in your cab.
This MORryde pin box is a direct replacement for your existing Lippert 1716 pin box, so the installation is very straightforward. After removing your old pin box, the MORryde can be mounted into place using the same hardware and bolt holes used by the factory pin box.
Because of the weight of the unit, you'll want a couple of friends to help you lift it into place during installation. Once the hardware is securely bolted down, you'll be ready to go.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this MORryde Cushion Fifth Wheel Pin Box for the Lippert 1716 pin boxes. Now this is built for trailers that have a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 11,500 pounds. And this is a nice cushion pin box. So to replace your current one for a lot smoother towing experience. As we mentioned it is designed to replace the Lippert 1716 Pin Box.
And with this pin box you'll enjoy a nice chuck-free, jerk-free ride. Thanks to the rubber sheer spring that's on the inside. That rubber shear spring will reduce any back and forth chucking, absorbs any jarring movement at the connection point. And it'll dampen up to one and a half inches of side to side movement and up to three inches of front to back movement. I want to zoom in and show you the area.
You can't really see the sheers, the rubber sheer spring, 'cause it's up underneath in the middle here but it's located right here above the King pin and that rubber shear spring will help dampen the transmission of forces from the Fifth Wheel to the vehicle. So it makes your starts and stops jerk-free. And also what's nice is it requires less maintenance than your air filled spring model pin boxes. This will put the same King pin, give you the same King pin location as the original manufacturer which will help reduce stress on the trailer frame. And this is a nice, fast, easy bolt on installation.
Now, when you do remove the old one and put this new one on you wanna make note of the bolt hole locations of the factory pin box 'cause you wanna mount this pin box in the same hole settings using the existing factory hardware. This does exceed the CSA standards. It is made in the USA, few specs. Again, it's for fifth wheel trailers with up to 11,500 pound gross vehicle weight rating. And the actual pin weight are the actual weight capacity on this is 18,000 pounds.
And you do wanna make sure to remember that this pin box capacity will not change the overall gross vehicle weight rating of your trailer. Last thing I wanna do is just give you a few measurements. I'm gonna measure the overall dot width of it. Outside the outside, 12 and a half inches. And then we're gonna measure from the center of the king pin to the center of the front row holes and then the center of the king pin to the very last row of holes. And I made a mark right up here where the center of the king pin is. So if we go from there to the front row is right at 20 and three eighths inches to the center of the front row. And if we go to the back row is right at 29 and one eighths inches. But that should do it for the review on the MORryde Cushion Fifth Wheel Pin Box for the Lippert 1716 pin boxes..
