Tired of your trailer tossing you around? Curt's Helux pin box smooths things out with a tough coil spring that beats air bags and torsion setups. It's maintenance-free, easy to use, and won't put your RV's frame warranty at risk.
The Helux coil spring system absorbs road shock, jerking, and the back-and-forth chucking that wears you out on long drives. It keeps things steady through starts, stops, and uneven roads so your ride feels calmer, your cargo stays safer, and your trailer takes less of a beating.
Built from fully welded steel with a triple-layer powder coat, this pin box is made to handle years of towing and all kinds of weather. And with no airbags, bearings, or bushings to service, you won't have to think about upkeep.
Unlike some aftermarket pin boxes, this one is approved for use on Lippert RV frames. That means you get a smoother ride without risking your trailer's warranty.
Notes:
Your trailer's pin weight is the amount of weight pressing down on your truck through the king pin. It's the key factor in choosing the right Curt Helux pin box since each model is tuned to a specific pin-weight range. If it's too light, the coil springs won't engage correctly, but if it's too heavy, you'll overstress the system. When this number is accurate, the pin box performs the way it was designed and gives you the smoothest ride possible.
The most reliable method is to use a set of certified vehicle scales (like CAT scales).
This process accounts for how your trailer is actually loaded, which includes cargo and water tanks, so you know you're picking a pin box that matches the conditions you're using it with.
If you don't have access to a scale, you can get a ballpark figure with your trailer's GVWR:
This method gives you a starting point, but remember it's only an estimate. The actual pin weight can change depending on how you fill tanks and distribute weight in the trailer.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look together at this CURT Helux shock-absorbing, fifth-wheel pin box. Now, the coil spring shock absorption system in this Helux pin box is designed to help reduce chucking and jarring when you're towing your fifth-wheel trailer. So if your current setup causes you a rough ride, especially over bumps or dips, this upgrade can make a noticeable difference in your ride quality. So this is going to fit the Lippert Rhino pin box bolt pattern and this is approved for use on your Lippert RV frames, which means you're gonna get a smoother ride without risking your trailer's warranty, like with some other aftermarket pin boxes.
Now, installation is going to be pretty straightforward, using the included hardware that you see here. I kind of have it loosely run through the holes here. So you are going to get the bolts and the nuts here. So again, pretty simple installation, but I do wanna let you know that this is heavy. This weighs about 160, 169 pounds or so.
So even though it's a pretty simple installation, you wanna make sure that you have plenty support when you're lifting this up into place. So at least have a friend help you. I had to have another coworker help me get this on the table. I made sure he had the heavy part to make sure that we had it on this table safely. So this does have a gross towing weight of 18,000 pounds and a maximum pin weight of 3,500 pounds and a minimum pin weight of 1,610 pounds.
So if your trailer's pin weight is not in that range and it exceeds the 3,500 pounds or it falls below the 1,610 pounds, then this system is not going to function as it is designed. So you gotta be sure that you're in that pin weight range. So this is built from fully welded steel with triple-layer powdercoat. So this is gonna be built for longevity and this Helux pin box boasts really a virtually maintenance-free design. So basically you're gonna get this installed and it's gonna be kind of an install it and forget it type of thing.
So no airbags to refill, no break-in period to wait for. And this automotive-grade coil spring is going to give you consistent, reliable performance. So if you do tow a fifth-wheel trailer regularly and you want a smoother, quieter, more comfortable ride, reducing those forward and backward jolts, and at the same time, you wanna reduce long-term stress on your RV and tow vehicle, this pin box is really going to be a great option for you to consider. Now, if you do pick this up, we would love to hear back from you regarding your experience with getting this installed and then using it, so you can share those experiences with us by dropping a comment or leaving a review on this product page. And if you leave a review, you can actually share some photos of this on your towing setup. So we'd love to see those photos and hear back from you. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our brief time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
Easy to install. Works great. There is a noticeable reduction in chunking.
Glad the pin box was good. The box and pallet were damaged badly. Will be installing it tomorrow. I think it will enhance our ride while towing.
I received this curt helux pin box very quickly. I was impressed with how fast and how the shipment was handled. I've installed the pin box but haven't yet towed our 5th wheel yet. 1st camping trip later this month possibly. Maine weather needs to be a bit nicer. Anyway. So far very impressed with the product.
This pin box is absolutely amazing. Way smoother pull way less chucking ! Highly recommended this over any stock pin box.
I’ve only had my toy hauler out one since installing the hitch but went over a set of RR tracks and 3 bridges and it definitely makes a difference. Greatly soften the blows to the truck so you know it’s taking a lot of stress off the fifth wheel. Watched it workings through the rear view mirror. Simple design that someone should have come up with long ago. Took a friend of mine and I exactly 1 hour to install withe the help of his motorcycle jack on the tailgate of the truck. It’s heavy and well built. They are a little pricey but I feel well worth it for the longevity of the frame. Most importantly know the weight of your trailer loaded to pick the right one
