Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

  • Recommended Sidewinder Pin Box And 5th Wheel Hitch For A 2017 Ram 1500 With 5.5 Bed
For a 2017 Ram 1500 with a 5/5' bed you'll definitely need to use a sidewinder pin box or Demco Sliding hitch # DM8550040 to prevent the nose of your 2015 KZ Durango D296BH from coming into contact with the cab of your truck. To find a compatible sidewinder pin box for your trailer you'll need to know the bolt pattern of the current pin box. Typically there is a sticker with the model number, serial number, etc. on it that can be used to find out the bolt pattern. If you do not have any...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Installation Bracket/Rail Kit for 2021 Ram 1500
2021 is a split model year for the Ram 1500, with two different models being available. The 1500 Classic is a carryover from the previous generation, while the Ram 1500 is the all new model. If you have the Ram 1500 Classic, I'd recommend the Reese # RP50142-58 custom install kit. For a less expensive option, a semi-custom kit is available as part # RP30035-523. The semi-custom kit would take an hour or two longer to install. For a Ram 1500, only a custom install kit is available as part...

  • Compatible Rails for Reese 30031 Hitch on 2019 Ram 1500 Classic
The Reese 30031 is nice in that it is designed to fit any vehicle with a set of industry standard fifth wheel rails. The correct fit for your truck is Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit # RP50142-58. I highly recommend these rails since they are custom fit for your 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. This means that the brackets are vehicle specific to minimize any drilling or measuring. However, if you want a slightly less expensive option, then the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation...

  • 5th Wheel Base Rail and Installation Kit for 2015 Ram 1500 With 5-1/2 Foot Bed
We do have a 5th wheel base rail and installation kit that fits your 2015 Ram 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed, with the correct fit for your truck being the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit with Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50142-58. I highly recommend this option as it is a custom kit, which means no drilling in your truck's frame to install. However, if you wanted the less expensive option (which would require drilling in your truck) that would be the Reese Semi-Custom...

The Reese # RP30035-386 semi-custom install rail/bracket kit will fit a 2018 Ram 1500 unless it has the factory air suspension system or the Eco Diesel engine. If you have the air suspension system, you'll want to use the custom kit, part # RP50142-58. If you have the Eco Diesel engine, use # RP30035-523 for vehicles without the factory air suspension or if you do have the factory air suspension the # RP50142-58 will work. Each kit provides industry standard 5th wheel bed rails that will...

  • Will Reese Bracket Kit 30439 Fit 2015 Ram 1500
It looks like as long as you don't have the factory air suspension you'll be able to fit the Reese Universal Installation Kit # RP30439 and your 16K hitch with the universal base rails on your 2015 Ram 1500, but you will need the mounting bracket kit # RP58523 as well. The 30439 kit is essentially just replacement mounting hardware and brackets for the Universal Base Rail # RP30035 kit so when combined with the 58523 you get the Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit # RP30035-523.

  • How to Reduce Chucking and Jarring While Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
Chucking and jarring while towing a 5th wheel trailer (or any trailer for that matter) is unavoidable because the trailer itself is not one piece with your vehicle. When your truck starts to move forward from a stop your trailer is still sitting static and so there will be a slight jolt; the same thing happens when you slow down. Since the front end of your trailer is connected to your truck, when your truck starts to slow down your trailer is still moving forward so it will give you a...
