Combined with cushioning polyurethane bumpers that absorb road shock and reduce noise, the result is a quieter, smoother ride mile after mile.
The double-pivot head makes it easier to line up and couple since it moves both front to back and side to side. Once connected, the spring-loaded handle with its comfort grip and tethered safety pin makes coupling straightforward—no fighting with stiff levers or noisy releases. Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this underbed rail and installation kit for the Demco Hijacker UMS 5th wheel and gooseneck trailer hitches. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2020 and newer Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 HD trucks without the OEM prep package. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application.
Now, many trucks now are coming equipped with the factory installed underbed puck systems in the truck bed to allow you to install a 5th wheel hitch for towing and then easily remove the hitch when you're not towing. Now, if you do not have one of those already installed in your truck bed, this kit will let you have that same underbed mount system for your Demco Hijacker 5th wheel and gooseneck trailer hitches. Wanna pop up an insert. There's the Demco hitch. It'll fit right into this.
Now, the advantage with this underbed mount system is when you're not towing your 5th wheel, you can remove that hitch from your truck bed and still have full access to your truck bed. There's no rails to get in the way. This installation kit is designed for use with the Demco Hijacker underbed series 5th wheel and gooseneck trailer hitches. These underbed rails right here will provide complete access to the truck bed when the hitch is removed. The rails are not exposed.
They're all underneath the bed. And it'll just give you four small mounting holes that'll sit flush with the truck bed. As we mentioned, this is a vehicle specific design, so it does reduce the installation time and requires less drilling than universal systems. Basically, these brackets right here on the sides, these will bolt onto the outside of your truck's frame rails. These crossmembers will sit along the top of the frame rails beneath the bed.
Now, drilling is required for installation. These parts are a steel construction. They have a nice, black powder coat finish to resist corrosion. Now, this does include everything shown here. The frame mounting brackets, the crossmembers, all the installation hardware, even gives you a couple tubes of threadlockers to put on the bolts when you go to install it. And it even comes with four of these cap plugs that you'll insert into the holes in your truck bed to keep those holes protected from any dirt getting into them. Comes with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how this all goes together. This hitch with the Airbourne Sidewinder worked great with the 2018 Ram 2500 Mega cab short bed with Ram boxes. Can maneuver a 90 degree turn without issue. Still have to get trailer lifted higher to get the trailer nose lowered, but for the complicated research we had on the right combo, this is tested and verified
Fit was spot on, built in USA a big plus, handles smoothly.
I like it’s design and how it sits in the bed. It seems to want to rotate some while pulling. I see some reviews that other people are having this problem also. Some have put a bolt down through the base into the truck bed. I haven’t wanted to do that as of yet. Otherwise I like the hitch.
This was a perfect fit into my 2500 Ram. It was delivered in perfect condition. I had a hard time finding the correct torque for some of the Bolts, for example the Bolts for attaching the Ram puk system to the hitch frame. It all worked out well. It took me one hour to put it together and install it in my Ram.
I had a Demco Recon 5th Wheel Hitch in the past I liked how easy it was to operate and the get in and out of the truck bed. I also like how compacted it is compared to most of the other brands. Go with what you know works for you.
The truck that got the install is a 2002 Ford F350 Super Duty 7.3 L Diesel dually. The Demco Recon 5th wheel hitch (DM8550043) looks like a well made, heavy duty hitch. All the welds are precise and well done. I like the single wrap around jaw with the real thick bar that backs that up. The handle that pulls out to unlock the jaw moves with ease and locks in the out position when the jaw opens. When the king pin comes in contact with the back of jaw, the jaw wraps around the king pin, the handle closes, you put in the safety pin and your ready to go RVing. I chose the Husky Custom Rails and installation kit (HT31405-686) for my install. The reason I chose these rails over the ones that etrailer had matched up for the hitch is, I had previously installed a set of Airlift Airbags and I didn't want the rail install to interfere with the airbags. It was a good choice, there was no interference at all. If I had not had the bags, I would have chose the rails and install kit that require no drilling. Drilling the holes went very fast and easy, it was torking the rear bolts down that was very difficult. There was not enough room to get a wrench of any kind around the nut. I wound up using a set of vise grips on the nut while a friend of mine torked the bolt slowly from above.
All and all I'm happy with the product and I'll give another review in a year.
I did have a problem the first time using the hitch with it unexpectedly sliding rearward and bending the locking pins. Kudos to Michael with Demco products for sending a replacement part and no issues since.
Purchased for my 2021 Ford F-250. Arrived 3 days ahead of schedule with excellent communication. Was professionally delivered in 1 shipment on 1 pallet in perfect condition.
Great instructions. Is easy to install for the mechanically minded. Will take a novice longer but they will have no issues if they follow the instructions. All I needed was a 3/4" wrench/socket, a 1 1/8" wrench, and a torque wrench. Puck handles were on upside down from factory but didn't matter you will need to take them off in step 1 to add or remove washers for the perfect fit on your OEM puck setup. Excited to hook up and start using it!

Very satisfied with this product! A bolt on Teflon plate would be awesome instead of the round disks that wear out and become hard to keep in place during the hitching process.
I'm not real impressed with this hitch i had the trailer lifted bought taller tires and wheels and have all adjustments at lowest settings and still not level

Good product. Easy install. Would give it five stars except you DO HAVE TO DRILL holes in your frame. That was a little disappointing. Other than that great product.
Well packed, the delivery was faster than I anticipated. I should have my new truck in a couple of days so I can complete the mounting.
Company and all personnel were awesome to work with .. I guess the install kit with bolts and instructions got ripped out of cardboard box.. the hitch came freight with no issues .. I like the hitch and product so far … I did receive the bolts and install kit a week later .. still did not have instructions with it .. but can get those online I think .. overall please so far with the experience thx
I had an old hitch kit in my older truck. The truck company changed the design of my new truck. I called etrailer sales and they gave me the part number for the updated kit. They knew of the change and had the design in stock. They shipped the new one right off. In fact I got it sooner then I needed it as it was in the middle of the winter. All the parts were there and it went in nicely and work great.
I think etrailer can't find the correct frame brackets for my 2024 chevy 2500hd. As the most recent order is NOT CORRECT and my c.c. has roughly 3k on it and still no Remco 18k autoslide installed yet!!!??
UPS delivery damaged first delivery and returned it to sender.
I contacted E Trailer and they immediately sent a replacement. I received it sooner than expected.
