Question:
I had a 2013 Ford F-350 8 foot bed with the factory Ford Puck System towing prep package. I purchased a Demco Hitchiker Model 5990 for that pickup to tow my fifth wheel camper. The hitch just dropped in the four factory puck system holes. I now have a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado with the 6-3/4 foot bed without the tow prep package. I would like to install an under bed rail system to the current hitch in. Is there such a thing for the Chevrolet, that would match up with the Ford factory puck system? The camper I am towing is rated at 16,000 # GVWR. Thanks

Thanks for the photo, and we do have a solution for you here to convert your Demco Hijacker UMS Double Pivot 5th wheel hitch so you can use it in your Chevy. There are indeed underbed rails for your 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed that will allow you to mount the hitch, though you will need to swap out the side rails of the hitch in order to fit the underbed mounting brackets. So, here is exactly what you will need for your '20 Silverado 2500:
- Underbed Rail and Installation Kit for Demco Hijacker UMS # DR37FR
- Replacement Side Plates for Demco Hijacker UMS 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM6005
The underbed rails have different connections/mounting holes than the Ford puck system, which is why swapping out the side rails is needed. Otherwise, everything will be the same and this will give you the underbed system you want for your Chevy.
The only other thing you'll need if you don't have one is a 5th wheel wiring harness, and there is one made specifically for Chevy/GM trucks, the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness # C53CR.
