Question:

No Pivot? Why does this sound like a disaster waiting to happen? Im sure Im missing something here.

Manufacturers have found that the pivoting can lead to issues with certain pin boxes (Rota-Flex) and can actually cause an opposite effect hurting your ride quality. The Curt PowerRide # C48BR has a bit of give to it to help with coupling and ride quality but the main thing with a hitch this heavy duty is simply stability and strength to handle the load of the trailer.

I've attached a short video below of the standard PowerRide # C22ER that Conner made going over the features of the hitch. His has the standard base rail style legs so you can skip over the info on those since you'll have the puck style legs.
