Overall Dimensions of Thule HideAway Awning Box and Installation Method for Back of 5th Wheel

Question:
I am looking at installing this on the rear of my toy hauler 2024 Genesis 5th wheel. Can you tell me the how far the case sticks out when retracted and how many inches the case is top to bottom once installed? Also, once the brackets are installed, is the case easy to remove? I ask this because of the configuration above my rear patio door will force me to install the brackets just above the door frame.

Hey James, thanks for reaching out!
The Thule HideAway Awning # TH490018 box measures 9.249 feet long, 7.872" wide, and 7.872" high when it is retracted into the container and in the "stored/travel" position.
According to the instructions there are a few different ways to install the awning (starting on page 20 of linked instructions) and all of them look to be fairly simple to remove it when you need to. I recommend following the "FIX Z" method (see attached photo) because it uses a second bolt to secure the awning box to the wall. Since this will be at the back of your 5th wheel it will experience a lot of movement so having a bolt securing the box will be the best method - you'll need to remove that bolt though when you need to remove the awning so keep that in mind.

Hey James, how did the Thule HideAway awning fit on the back of your Genesis toy hauler? Did the FIX Z method make it easy enough to remove when needed? Your update could make it easier for others mounting one above a rear door.
