Will Curt TriFlex Brake Controller Drain Battery Over Time

Question:

Does the 12 volt wire remain energized all the time or only when the tow vehicle is running? In other words, is there a possibility that this could drain the vehicle’s energy if something is left on? Thanks

The 12 volt power wire that runs to the Curt Triflex part # C24VV is hot all the time but when the controller isn't in use it goes into a sleep mode that prevents the battery from draining when not used for a while.

Brake controllers are designed to be on all the time and leaving yours on would not be an issue at all. The reason you don't want to cut power to the controller is that you'd lose all your settings if you did so.

I attached an install video that uses the 7-way adapter part #37185 and a Tekonsha brake controller but it would be the same process as any Curt brake controller like the #C24VV since the wire colors are the same.
