If your 2020 Explorer is equipped with the factory 7-way trailer connector, it will have the brake controller connector under the dash. The connector is located under the dash, above and to the right of where the driver's right knee would be. The connector will be rectangular, and will be gray in color. If you use a Tekonsha brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160, the # 3035-P wiring adapter is the correct harness.
If the vehicle doesn't have the factory 7-way, the connector won't be present and you'll need to hardwire the controller. If that's the case, the simplest installation would be the Curt Echo, part # C51180 which works wirelessly with your smartphone. To install the controller, you'll need a functional 4 pin trailer connector, which you can install using part # 118599. From there, you'd use the # ETBC7L installation kit. The kit includes and adapter to convert the 4 pin to a 7-way. You'll need to run one circuit to the positive battery terminal, which is pretty simple.
I've linked to a product video that explains how the Echo brake controller works.

I have a 2020 explorer with the tow package and 7 pin receiver on the back but can’t find the control inside. What I’m reading might indicate when I choose the tow option it will automatically adjust with my regular brakes. Could this be true?
