Recommended Bike Rack For Specialized Turbo Como 4.0 Low-Entry Bikes With Fenders For 2 Inch Hitch
Question:
Hello, I have a 2013 Silverado truck with a 2 inch trailer hitch. I have a Specialized Como 4.0 low entry e-bike WITH fenders. I am looking for a 2inch hitch type bike rack, that will hold two e-bikes. Most that I have seen hook over the front tire at the front forks but with the fender that will not work well. I also have the low entry bike, so there is not cross bar. I have reviewed a lot of bike carriers on your EXCELLENT web site but would like your opinion. What is your recommendation for a hitch style bike rack for two Specialized e-Bikes.

Thank you for the nice words about our site, and we can get your Specialized Turbo Como 4.0 Low-Entry bikes with fenders set up with a bike rack so you can carry them. Since your bikes have fenders, you are right that you don't want to use the wheel-mounted type, so you'll need a frame-mounted rack, but since you don't have a crossbar, you'll want one with adjustable cradles, and the perfect option for this is from Yakima:
- Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y36FR
The OnRamp uses padded frame clamps that are attached to a center mast, and the clamps can be adjusted up-and-down, as well as rotate, so they will be able to easily grip your Specialized ebikes at the frame. I added a photo that a customer sent in using the OnRamp # Y36FR with their ebikes that have fenders and step-through frames, and while they are not the same as your Specialized bikes, I did want to show that the rack is able to hold that type of bike.
Apart from simply allowing you to carry your bikes, the OnRamp # Y36FR also comes with a ramp to load your bikes onto the rack; that way you don't have to lift them up each time you want to go riding. The rack has a 66 lb per-bike capacity, which is more than enough for your bikes, and comes with a cable lock to secure your very nice bikes to the rack. The only thing it doesn't come with is a hitch lock, though you can add that with the Yakima HitchLock # Y07235.
