Using A Thule Bike Adapter Bar Correctly
Question:
I’ve had the Thule bar for awhile. Now using on my new rhino rack. I attach the bar lower on the seat stem see photo ever since the time the stem pulled out in transit. We’re having trouble getting a second bike to fit on. I think the bike’s angle makes it hard. Any thoughts on how to assure the seat stem doesn’t pull out? It has the little clamp adjuster arm which seems to be tight. Thanks for any thoughts. Love my new rack!

You will always have trouble loading the second bike if your first bike is placed on the rack at that angle. The Thule Bike Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes, part # TH982XT, should be used around the stem and the seat post of your bike. I am guessing that your quick release seat post collar, I can see it in the photo, loosened and that is what caused the original problem.
If your quick release post is tight you should not have a problem putting the frame adapter around your seat post. I use an adapter when I transport my bike on my hitch rack. But I also have another solution that will give you peace of mind while transporting your bike. If you do not change the height of your bike seat frequently it might help if you had your local bike shop replace the quick release seat post collar on your bike with a bolt on seat post collar. That way you will have more confidence in the adapter bar, when transporting your bike on your rack.
I have included a video review link below.
