Turning Square Trailer Axle Upside Down for Extended Life On Previously Overloaded Axle
Question:
My single axle trailer used to be overloaded resulting in excessive tire wear on inside. Can I turn axle upside down to counter this problem. Its a box channel axle Thanks

Flipping your axle will help with the upward bend to assist in support and reducing uneven wear on tires. The natural bow in an axle is designed to be slightly upward so under load it will even to level at most. To flip your axle you may need to drill a hole for the springs to fit properly but because your axle is already under the leaf springs, the hole may already exist.
Because of your square axle, no other components will be needed unless the plate is welded in place. If that is the case you will need to remove it and add a new plate like # TRTP200175 for example. If you find that your tire wear does not get better, replacing your axle may be required.
