Replacing 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tires With Radial Trailer Tires
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 1991 Coleman Roanoke pop up camper and need to replace the old tires and wheels. The tires on it say 5.7x8- I assume those are bias ply. If I want to put radials on with a load rating B, what size do I need?

Your current bias 5.70-8 tires like the Kenda K353 # AM10010 measure 18.1" in diameter and are 5.8" wide. The closest size to that for radial tires are 4.80R12 trailer tires, which are 20.6" in diameter and 4.8" wide. This means you will also need new wheels, but the overall size is important because with trailer tires, the general rule of thumb is you want at least 3" of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1" of clearance between the inside of the tire and your trailer's frame rail.
So as long as you have that clearance (you'll need to measure to see if the added diameter of these tires are going to work) your best option for a replacement is the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C which is a load range C (there are not load range B options) with a 990 lb capacity.
Then for a wheel, that will depend on your wheel bolt pattern. If you do not know what it is I have added a help article which details how you can find it, as well as a printable bolt hole template you can use. If your bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2" you can actually get the tire mounted to the wheel with the - Taskmaster 4.80R12 Trailer Tire w/ 12" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM30660.
If you have a 4 on 4" bolt pattern you would need Tire # TT48012C and a separate wheel, then the Dexstar # AM20122 would work for you.
I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.
