Troubleshooting Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller that Only Shows Red Display

My Tekonsha P3 device display now only displays in red. The device seems to work as designed but I cannot get the display to change back to its proper colour.

That's a pretty odd issue to have with the Prodigy P3 part # 90195. Try unplugging it for a few seconds and then plugging it back it as a hard reset might get it to work like it's supposed to.

I have the same issue. Despite setting it to other colours it defaults back to the red screen. Did unplugging it solve the problem?

I reached out to my contact at Tekonsha and he said the internal mechanism responsible for the color change is likely damaged and the unit just needs to be replaced. This would be covered under warranty.

@ChrisR Our unit is also only displaying in red. It's about 7 years old, would it be covered under the limited lifetime warranty?

@DawnK If you have the same controller then it should be covered under the same lifetime warranty.

My P3 seems to work when pressing brake. When I release the brake it goes red. What’s up with that?

@JamesonC Yes, it says no brakes. Then when I push the brake pedal, it goes to green and gives me the numbers
