I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The manual listed a maximum trailer weight of 4,500 pounds for the Cherokee that is equipped with the 3.2L engine and trailer tow package. I do recommend verifying this information by checking your copy of the manual, as it's possible that you have a different model.
If this is correct, then you will have no issue towing the 2,800 pound trailer that you mentioned. It looks like the factory tow package for your Jeep would have come with the needed trailer wiring and hitch, but if you need anything else for towing just let me know and I will be happy to make some recommendations.
