Is there a Longer Rear Wheel Strap for the Thule T2 Pro Bike Racks
Updated 05/03/2020 | Published 08/06/2018 >
Question:
I have a Fat bike, I recently upgraded my tires to a 26X4inch Mammoth Maxxis Tire. I believe the depth of the tire is higher than the 26X3.5inch tires i replaced because my Rear Wheel Holder Assembly strap is now to short to secure tire in place. Is there anything I can do to this Rear Wheel Holder Assembly work? is there a longer replacement strap for this part?

Helpful Expert Reply:
You will need to put the rear wheel cradle strap into the fat bike configuration which will give it more reach to fit around your new tire size if you haven't done so already. I have included a picture showing how to feed the strap through for both the standard configuration and the fat bike configuration.
If you are already in the fat bike configuration then you would need to use an alternative strap, such as one of the cinch straps in set # HE4084 since there isn't a longer one for the T2 Pro # TH83JV. The straps above are 21 inches long and while they are not an exact match for the bike rack they are the best option.

Question: I have an electric bike with fat tires and the T2 Pro Thule bike rack. Should the front wheel always be the wheel that gets strapped in as opposed to the other side of the bike rack which has the bar? Also do you think I need to buy/use some extra straps or tie downs just in case as sometimes we will drive a long distance.
