Recommended Brake Controller Wiring For 2006 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Good Day- I have an 06 Jeep Wrangler. I want to install part # 5100 Drawtite Activator break controller. I also need to wire up a 7 way plug to use for my trailer. Is it the universal installation Kit or is there another kit for a jeep? Thank you

There is no brake controller plug-in adapter available for your Jeep so it will have to be hardwired. The Draw-Tite Activator Trailer Brake Controller, part # 5504, is a time-delayed brake controller. You set the braking force you want and when you press your brake pedal that amount of braking force is applied to the trailer brakes. You will also need part # 20127. This is the pigtail that plugs into the brake controller harness and then is hardwired to the Jeep wiring under the dash.
First, you will need trailer wiring. If you have no trailer connectors then you will need to install a 4-way trailer connector and then a 7-way. The 4-way connector I recommend is part # 118409. This simply plugs into the location points behind the rear bumper.
You will then need part # ETBC7. The 4-way connector plugs into the # ETBC7 and then the remaing wires are run as shown in the attached drawing.
