Anti-Rattle Device Recommendations for 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Hitch Adapter
Question:
A while back we purchased a hitch extender from etrailer for a bike rack that was given to us. I thought the problem was something missing from the rack when I was given the rack. The rack shakes like crazy when driving. I thought it might be a missing part. I have recently learned its the play in the extender. The part if write to you about is Brophy #HTAD Black bar code 8481304014 1 It is a 2inch extender. I measure it and there is nearly an ? of inch of play. So its 2 ?inch and the shaking is quite disturbing. Do you have any suggestion on how I can close this gap in a way that I can take the extender off when not in use? We park in a city garage and having the extender protruding all the time is not possible. Any help you can offer is appreciated. Kind regards,

What you described is one of the downsides of using a hitch extender like the # HTAD. It adds a bunch of movement to the hitch.
If the bike rack has a standard hollow shank with a non-threaded hitch pin you could use the part # 63232 for that portion of the setup and then for the 1-1/4 inch portion you could use the # RM-061-125.
The best solution though would be to go with a bike rack that is designed to fit your hitch size so that you don't have to use the adapter. This would solve all of your problems.
The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike rack up by three inches providing additional ground clearance. Because of that, this is the rack I'd recommend for you. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch bolt, but a combination anti-rattle hitch lock/cable lock is available separately as part # S64031.
