Firestone Coil-Rite Air Spring Basics

Firestone Coil-Rite springs fit inside your existing rear coil springs to maximize the effectiveness of your suspension system. The added cushion provided by the air springs allows your vehicle to better handle a heavy load or trailer. Hauling heavy loads or towing a heavy trailer can make the rear of your vehicle sag and the front end rise. This puts more strain on your rear axle and reduces contact between your front tires and the road, causing problems with braking, steering control and traction. By adding air springs to your rear suspension, you can help to level your vehicle for more effective braking and handling under heavy loading or when you encounter adverse road conditions. The air springs also help to level your headlight beams and reduce wear on your tires.

Adjustable Air Pressure

The air pressure in your Coil-Rite springs can be adjusted manually, side to side, to compensate for off-center loads. A centered load improves the stability of your vehicle by reducing body roll. The air springs will also help to absorb road shock and soften contact between your axle and frame. This prevents bottoming out, thus improving ride comfort. Route the air line tubing for the springs to your vehicle's bumper to provide easy access to the manual inflation valves.

Air Spring Construction

Coil-Rite springs are constructed of durable, elastic polyurethane to ensure years of service. Single replacement springs (sold separately) are available for maintenance to an existing Coil-Rite kit.

Air Spring Installation

The Coil-Rite springs install inside your existing coil springs. The custom-fit springs attach to your vehicle's spring seats.

These things are awesome. Install was a bit tricky with actually getting them inside the spring. Defintely don’t attempt during the colder season as the material is NOT pliable. A bit of soapy water helps if the springs uncompressed still aren’t wide enough to easily work them in. They’ve held up great and provide a decent ride when the vehicle is loaded down. Minimal squat!

2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid

Ordered From QC,Canada. Delivery took 13 days. Installed on my driveway in my Toyota Prius 2012. It's a 2-person job, took 1.5 hr total. Not hard to do

by:

Order these for a 2013 Toyota Prius C. Website here didn't list this part worked for my vehicle. I cross referenced through other websites to find which model was going to work for my Prius C and came across the Toyota Yaris has the same size rear spring as my Prius C, so I put two and two together and placed the order. Product arrived and installation was a breeze ( that's if you knew before hand what is expected) I researched by viewing video after video of different ways to install these bags. As long you can raise the car high enough off the ground and secure vehicle with jack stands. You won't have any trouble sliding these air bags between the springs. I've read reviews where they stated they had a tough time pushing bags between springs. The only thing I can think of is they did not raise vehicle high to allow the rear suspension to extend or they removed the tires during installation. My advice-keep the wheels on, the added weight of the wheels help extend the springs to more to give that extra gap to slide air bag in between spring.
So if you own a 2013 Toyota Prius C, these air bags will work for you. Now I can transport two adults in the rear seats and not have to worry about tires hitting the rear fenders when driving over bumpy roads

They still function like day one after the install. Have to add air every other week, sometimes longer if Im not transporting passengers in the rear seats

Like all my etrailer purchases
Great
value great provider with fast economical shipping.
Bag system was great upgrade to my Prius V which great performance and cargo area but Not a suspension for weight on a hitch receiver nor heavier cargo behind rear wheels. Perfect solution! Takes some skill to install but not inordinate. Thanx

2010 Toyota Prius

installation instructions could be better

When
you deflate to work into spring, once you get one end in you should release the deflater stopper, makes it easier to work into place.

Also, if you work it in from the top, once you get it mostly in, rotate it around like you are screwing it in place, this is my 3rd set to install, struggled on the 1st set, easy to do now.

Just a few suggestions

2010 Toyota Prius

Been great on my 2010 Toyota Prius. Have had them now for about 1 year. I haul many things in the back of this car and these air bags are up to the task. No more low squatting car!

2007 Hyundai Accent

Good product and easy to install if you are a little handy with tools.

by:
2010 Toyota Prius

Installation of the first air bag took me about 25 minutes, and the second one about 5 minutes. I heated the second air bag with a heat lamp to make it more flexible. I think my 2010 Prius drives better with them installed.

by:

Quick, prompt service.
These work well.
Have used them on numerous vehicles. Not always easy to get in place.

Toyota Prius

Love that I can load up the Prius and I get no sag

by:

I was amazed seller shipped same day--as i ordered in evening! Product seems to be complete and well made, installing now.

by:

Installation was not that hard and it makes a big diffenence in the ride of my vehicle. I have a 10 year old car and the springs were not performing well even though I changed the shocks. These bags are the greatest, especially for the cost.

Another great transaction you guys rock

After installation we are towing on the level and enjoying the ride. In an effort to maintain the minimum air pressure to each Coil-Rite Helper at all times, we installed individual air supplies to each Helper. We used our onboard Horn-Blaster air compressor to supply two air pressure regulators allowing us to easily change air pressure to each individual helper as desired. Each regulator employs a check-valve to maintain pressure to the Helpers in case of a compressor failure. We have marked each pressure gauge to the minimum pressure and another mark for our desired towing pressure.

The Firestone airbags are very well made and has quality feel. It was not very warm in MN when I installed them so I needed to use lubrication and a heat gun to warm the airbags from a distance so the airbags would be pliable. My gladiator has a Decked drawer system and rear steel bumper installed which caused the rear to squat more than the front. After installing these airbags and learning that I was fluent in “FRENCH” the rear of the truck was raised and squatting issues addressed. The drive was improved as well, less body roll around curves.

As most have indicated fitting the bags in the springs is the hardest part. one tip I found helpful was once the bag was partially in, force the bottom of the bag with the air tube into the center of the spring then slowly let the air go back into the bag. Once it had some air in it i was able to move it around and get into place. once installed at 20 psi it raised my back end two inched. from 35" to 37" It is now level with the front of the vehicle. my vehicle is a 2015 armada platinum. Yes it has the auto leveling system. But the system wasn't functional. I've used these before in a 2010 armada platinum and it worked out great

I have purchased 3 sets of Coil-Right. The product is very good but the installation instructions were terrible. The first set (2023) I installed per video instructions and it failed. The puck that is placed at the top of the bladder fell of and caused a catastrophic failure. The bladder was punctured and was basically destroyed. The second set (2023) I installed per the video but I enlarged the hole in the puck to help is stay on top of the bladder It failed also. The third set (2024) installed per the new installation instructions which removed the bump stop at the top of the tower. So far they seem to be working better but I think eventually the puck will diappere because there is nothing to hold it inside the spring. Time will tell. This is the only product for my vehicle I can use. 2021 Toyota Sienne LE.

by:

I can only give this 3 stars because one of the bags only holds air for about 1-2 days. The other bag stays filled for months. When they are both filled it gives my Pathfinder about 1" of extra lift while towing our travel trailer. So, the trip to the campground is fine but then I have to find an air pump for the trip home or tow with it lower. If they would both stay filled I would give them a 5 star rating. I contacted etrailer support and was told that I had to contact Firestone for warranty support. I have emailed (can't find a phone number on their web site) them twice with no reply.

by:

Great product. I must say that they were a little tough to install. A very tight fit. Fortunately for me I had the availability of a vacuum pump. With that I was able to evacuate all the air out of the bags which made them flatter, with that, it made it easier to slide them between the coil springs. I tow a small camper trailer, I usually run around 20 psi in the bags. This keeps my vehicle level and adds for a smooth ride. A great product.

by:

I'll preface with I am an average do it yourselfer. I tried I stalling them on my VW Atlas for almost 3 hours before I just quit. I had to have them professionally installed. The installers said it took two of their people trying to fit the air rites in each spring. After installation they have been fine. My vehicle drops a little when I hook up boat but not a problematic amount. They hold air for quite a while and have not made any noise while traveling. They work as should. Just be prepared to pay for an install in event you cannot get them in.

  • Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4136 for 2011 Toyota Prius
According to my contacts at Firestone, the Coil-Rite Air Helper Spring kit you mentioned, part # F4136 will indeed fit the 2011 Toyota Prius. When installing the system, it is crucial that the cuts made in the air line be absolutely square to avoid air leakage. We recommend using a tubing cutter like part # AL10530. • How Often Should I add Air to my Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs on my 2015 Toyota Prius
When using the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs Part # F4136 on your 2015 Toyota Prius you should not have to add air on a regular basis. I sometimes see a slight pressure loss when it goes from hot outside to cold and you'll have to add a bit to get it back to pressure similar to the way a tire on a vehicle fluctuates up and down slightly with weather. If you are adding air on a regular basis to the bags to maintain your desired pressure then you have a leak in the system and...

  • Is an On-board Air Compressor Needed to Use Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs
You do not have to have an on-board compressor or control unit to use the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4136. To add air you would need to use a compressor of some kind. If you happened to have a portable one that would work. Otherwise you could use the ones at gas stations. To remove air you would just have to depress the valve, just like letting air out of a tire.
