Great service! Great product!

Received my hitch on time. Box was all beat up. Hitch was loosely packed, all scratched up and one end of a mount bracket was severely bent. I beat it out with a hammer, so it's all good now. The hitch pin design is poor for this hitch because of the position it has to be in on order to install the pin clip it all interferes with the safety chain attachment loops. I will be mostly using a stabilizing bolt in it's place that came with my bike rack so I will live with it.

Hitch works fine. I installed a hitch extender as a permanent add-on since the hitch is all hidden behind the bumper and again in the butt to reach to install pin and clip. Now the extender just sticks out a few inches all the time. I hit my shin on it enough times now to learn to stay clear of it! Hahahaha!

2006 Dodge Ram Pickup

I bought this for a 2006 Mini Cooper R53 Sport. It does fit the sport with the center dual tube exhaust. You just have to make sure your hitch doesn’t fit right in front of the exhaust gases. I’ve been using it for a year with no hot hitch problems. Also installed a wiring kit for lights to work. It’s amazing. I use this to tow a 6’x8’ utility trailer for small things, instead of using my HD Ram truck to just pull around a small trailer. Way easier to maneuver my mini with this hitch than use my truck for such small jobs.

by:

This fit perfectly under the bumper of the mini. Only issue I had was using a locking pin. I was not able to get it unlocked behind the bumper. Very little space with no sight for keys or key hole guidance. I would only recommend not using a locking pin. The hitch works flawlessly. I ground out the back of the rear fog light housing to fit back into the hole so you don't know the hitch is there until I install the bike rack

by:
Cooper

I finished installing a trailer hitch on my 2006 MINI cooper and was amazed at how little trouble (thanks for the great instructions) I had getting the thing on. I would have included a photo but it installs behind a small cover on the bumper and only I know it is there.

I also installed the etrailer trailer light kit. The instructions were easy to follow and much to my amazement (I'm no electrician), everything works.

Ford Flex

I love it.... it works fine, however the 200 lb max weight on tongue load makes it flex a little when the tiny trailer is hooked up and I am getting on and off loading whatever. Overall I am very happy with it and feel safe using it even with the vertical movement

2000 lb load capacity is ok for normal loads and I like to keep it about 50% of that.

2005 MiniCooper

This was only a one time purchase. I own a 2005 Mini Cooper and wanted to install a hitch for bicycle transportation. My Cooper dealer did not help me but E-trailer did. So happy with the communication I had in finding the right choice. If I would ever plan on another hitch item, I will be back.

by:

Mounted up fine, seems like it will work okay for my bike rack. However, what's up with the backup light? Your existing light doesn't fit back in the hole and I'm not sure I like being without one. Looking for a solution.

Additionally, seems Curt should have provided a plug for aesthetics, if I can't use my backup light - it makes the installation seem rather ghetto. Lastly, I hope I can reach up there to put the pin in place to secure the rack...

Installation a 5 of 10; finished product about a 3 of 10.

2006 MiniCooper

Wow! Quick delivery, great products! The hitch fit my Mini perfectly, the instructions were impeccable, and the recommended bike rack the perfect complement to the hitch- I am a very happy man! Thank you ETrailer...

I assume the product is good, but I wanted to comment more on the service I received from Danielle H. I ordered my hitch and b/c of an error in my ship to address the order was declined. I called and Danielle not only fixed everything but continued to follow-up to ensure my hitch was delivered. Today it came and got yet another email confirmation. I wish all online purchases and communication were this good!! Excellent job Danielle... eTrailer give Danielle a raise! ??

2004 MiniCooper

I bought this for my 04 Mini Cooper. I actually overloaded it and it performed wonderfully. I was able to haul a 50cc moped and carrier. The only downside is you lose your backup light. Other than that I'm extremely happy!

by:

I just received the trailer hitch I ordered, on time, no problems. The two people I spoke to by phone, Amy and Rose, were fabulous on the phone. This was so smooth - way way better and less expensive than dealing with my local U-Haul. Can't address function of the hitch as yet, but I don't anticipate problems. The hitch arrived intact and unharmed, with parts as promised. Would definitely use ETrailer.com again!

The hitch looks great and was easy to install. I ordered it late Wednesday night and had it in my hands at 10:00 Friday at no shipping cost. Also tracking the order was top notch I will buy again

2006 MiniCooper

After I placed my order with etrailer I read on line that the service was not very good.
I was pleasantly surprised when the order was delivered rather quickly and with none of the problem I read about.
Hopefully this will continue because i am looking for other purchases from etrailer.
Good job guys
Thanks

Great fit! Haven't pulled anything yet but installation was a breeze! My model doesn't have a light but the cap still fits to hide the receiver which is neat.

Hitch well built. Fit first time on Mini Cooper. Use downloadable PDF file of instructions when you do the installation - the color and detail make it much better than a black and white photocopy version.

by:

trailer hitch went in according to the video instructions. I worked great. Thank You

by:

Nice paint and welds. Direct bolt on. .Perfect fit.

by:

This worked great, was pretty easy to get on and worked for hauling a uhaul across two states. Unluckily my car wasn't quite as up to the task, and I was recommended not to do that again by my mechanic.

by:
2005 MiniCooper

Does not fit Cooper S Convertible. That needs to be made more obvious.

I don't give 5 star reviews. But this was perfect purchase and quick delivery.

  • Hitch Availability for 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible
You are correct that currently there is no hitch receiver offered for the 2006 Mini Cooper S convertible. This could simply be due to limited volume - hitch makers do consider the business potential of any given vehicle based on the number of units produced. Some times the engineering investment may not be offset by the business potential. In other cases, particularly on smaller lighter vehicles whose frames may not have enough strength to handle a hitch-mounted load, hitch makers may determine...

  • Why Does Curt Hitch Not Fit 2004 Mini Cooper S Series?
I reached out to my contact at Curt and he said the owner of the vehicle in the photo was outside of the their # C11126 hitch compatibility because as manufactured it will absolutely have issue with the center exhaust on your 2004 Mini Cooper S. It appears the location is the same as in your photo for this hitch and bumper, but there is one thing to consider as to why it is not a confirmed fit. I have attached the installation instructions which also include photos to help. It shows...

Curt Class I Hitch # C11126 for the 2005 Mini Cooper will not fit on the S-Series models due to the center-positioned exhaust. This is true for both convertible and hardtop versions. Currently none of our hitch brands offers a rear hitch receiver that is compatible with your vehicle. If you were interested in the hitch in order to support a bike rack, we do offer a variety of trunk-mount bike carriers. • Best Way To Carry 2" Receiver Accessories with 1-1/4" Receiver on 2004 Mini Cooper
I have a solution for you, but unfortunately because of the size of the 2004 Mini Cooper there is not a 2" hitch available for this vehicle; this is mostly down to the Class of the hitches that have 2" receivers not being rated for this vehicle. It sounds like you're just looking to carry some hitch mounted accessories with a 2" receiver shank, so as long as you're not going to be using this to tow anything you could use the Curt # C11126 which has a 1-1/4" receiver. Once you've got the...

  • Can a Hitch Adapter for 2 inch Cargo Carriers Fit on Mini Coopers?
I am happy to help you find a cargo carrier that will work with your 2005 Mini Cooper, but we do not carry an adapter that is compatible with the Cooper's limited hitch access. From my research your best option is to use a 1-1/4" carrier that is directly compatible with your existing hitch instead of on an adapter. I recommend the Reese Cargo Carrier # 63155 that has a distance of 1" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the basket. This longer distance will give...

  • Is it Easy for a Woman to Install Pin and Clip with Curt Trailer Hitched Installed on a Mini Cooper
It is probably easier for a woman to insert or remove the hitch pin and clip once Curt trailer hitch # C11126 installed on a Mini. Without trying to sound sexist women tend to have smaller features and could reach in and place the pin in with more ease than a big, hairy man arm. Pin # C21410 is cushioned which would lessen the stress on the hands. Otherwise you would be looking at a locking hitch pin which would probably be even more difficult. Curt does state that when using this rack...
