Thule Sprint Roof Bike Racks Review - 2013 Nissan Leaf

Today, on our 2013 Nissan Leaf, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Sprint Roof Mounted Bike Rack, part number Th528. We'll begin our test fit by lacing our rack on top of our vehicle. We'll be doing our test fit today on the Thule Rapid Traverse Roof Rack System. You'll see here the steel rubber coated strap. We'll go ahead and slide that underneath of our crossbar and then you'll want to fit the T into the slat. I'll need to loosen this here as it's a little tight. There's a knob on the back that you can turn to loosen and tighten it.

Nissan Leaf Bike Rack Questions

  • The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch # C11396 is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Nissan Leaf. Due to the warranty of the hitch you will need to use a stabilization strap like # 18050 with any non-trailer load which includes a bike rack. Also with a Class I hitch you will be limited to 1-1/4" Class I rated bike racks like # TH9042, because this hitch can only support 150lbs of tongue weight. The Helium is a great bike rack for your Leaf, because it is very light weight. You will...

  • To install the Yakima KingJoe Pro 3 Bike Rack, # Y02625, on your 2015 Nissan Leaf you will need to use glass hatch hook adapters in place of the upper strap hooks. One set should have been included with the rack but if you have misplaced these, we do have replacements available, part # Y02612. Please do keep in mind that using glass hatch hooks lowers the carrying capacity of the rack so you would be limited to carrying just 2 bikes.

  • The only bike rack I recommend for vehicles that have the spoiler at the top of the rear hatch like on your 2015 Nissan Leaf is the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack # HRF2 for 2 bikes or # HRF2-3 for 3 bikes. Any other rack will put stress on the spoiler so I advise not using anything but the Over-the-Top. If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar #...

  • The Yakima KingJoe Pro 2 Bike Rack # Y02624 would be an excellent choice for a trunk mounted bike rack for your 2013 Nissan Leaf. I checked with Yakima to confirm that this. If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Yakima Tube Top Adapter Bar # Y02531 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This...

  • According to Thule, none of their trunk mounted bike racks are a fit for your 2012 Nissan Leaf, as the glass hatch does not make a suitable attachment point for the upper hooks of the Raceway # TH9001PRO bike rack. Yakima offers several different racks that are a fit for your Leaf (see link). The Yakima racks use a special glass hatch hook that will allow the rack to be attached directly to the vehicle (see diagram). These glass hatch hooks will limit you to carrying two bikes...

  • We offer several Yakima Trunk Mount racks that will indeed fit your 2012 Nissan Leaf. If you click the provided link, you can see the best-selling choices available. The King Joe Pro, # Y02624 that you referenced will fit your Leaf, and is one of our best-sellers for your vehicle. For womens bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # Y02531 is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and...

  • Of the available racks that are a confirmed fit for your 2012 Nissan Leaf, I would recommend the Halfback part # Y02636. The rack features anti-sway cradles to keep the bikes placed upon it from swaying back and forth, preventing them from hitting each other or the rear of the vehicle. The rack is very ruggedly constructed and the surfaces that would contact your Leaf are very well padded. This rack is pretty easy to install as well. Check out the install video for more info on...
