Today we're going to be taking a quick look at part number TH05820. This is the replacement easy step mounting kit for Thule cargo boxes. This is going to help replace your lost or damaged mounting hardware for the Thule evolution, part number TH672 and the Thule cascade XT, 676XT, 677XT, and 678XT, and again these are all roof mounted cargo boxes. This kit's going to include one complete set of mounting hardware for one cargo box. You're going to get your U bolts with the rubber protectors on there to protect the bottom of the crossbars. You're going to get your stickers.
These are going to be 15 stickers to cover up any exposed holes in the bottom floor of the box. It's going to limit the amount of moisture, dirt, and debris that gets up in the box from outside. You're going to get your plastic strips that sit underneath the easy snap housings. You're going to get all four easy snap housings, and two cargo straps to secure any cargo inside your box. Now on each side of the housing you're going to have tie down locations to run your strap through and over your gear. Really simple operation though.
Pretty simple, the U bolt's going to come up around from underneath the vehicle's crossbar. It's going to come up through the bottom of the box. These housings are going to be located inside the box at each mounting location. You'll need to rotate it open, just like that. When it's open it's going to be able to receive the U bolt.
You push that up there and it engages in this portion right here. What you do is you'd rotate the housing over, push down the red lever. That's going to lock the U bolt in place, making sure it creates a nice tight fit between the cargo box and the vehicle's roof rack system. You need to do that at all four locations. Once you're ready to loosen up the hardware, remove the box, you lift up on the red lever, open back up the housing.
It's going to allow the U bolt to disengage from the foot pack. Really simple operation. Again, this is going to include one fully kit for a full replacement of one cargo box when it comes to the mount assemblies. That's going to do it for today's review of part number TH05820. .
Full disclosure: I recently received my order for the EasySnap Mounting kit and have not even installed it yet. I believe this will be a great retrofit for my Thule Cascade box and will motivate me to use my box even for a single day at the lifts as opposed to carrying skis, boots, poles, etc inside my truck. This is more a review of my shopping experience with etrailer.com. I’ve been telling everyone I can how fantastic etrailer.com is in terms of customer service - it’s like going back to the good old days of people truly caring and wanting to help you out as best they can. And to top it off, everyone is so knowledgeable! Above and beyond! As for the product - I have a super old 2004 Volvo Weekender by Thule (which is *not* the same thing as the Thule Weekender box). I was unsure about the product fitting, but I called and got advice on the sizing and made sure it would fit (the u-bolt is 3.5” center to center so it fit perfectly in the holes on my box!). I was also worried about the EasySnap due to the way it moves (concerned it wouldn’t be able to open properly due to the wells the holes in my box are in), but it works great with no issues / the easy snap plastic top piece clears the sides of the wells just fine!We got to test out the box this weekend for a 2-hr trip in speeds ranging from 25mph to 80mph, and it didn’t budge - the mounting kit did a great job. Overall, thrilled with the product and the customer service! I’ll be back and am more than happy to give this company my business!
Just what I needed. Hold the box tight against the crossbars without coming loose. I love a good bargain and I picked up an older Porsche branded box. It was a Thule that Porsche threw their button on. The only issue it had, no mounting hardware. All searching took me back to etrailer and this retro u-bolt kit. I went to Thule customer support first and after a back and forth that took over a week - they told me they couldn't help. I reached out to etrailer. I was re-assured that I could return the product if it didn't work. No need to return - its a perfect fit.
Replacement EasySnap Mounting Kit for Thule Cargo Boxes. This product worked great and was very easy to install. (15 minutes). The key is to install the rubber parts that they isolate the cross bar. (Note attached picture)
The delivery was spot on and thank you for upgrading the shipping. One hour after we arrived in Utah the package arrived.
Excellent product, great alternative to OEM. Great quality and price. I purchased a used roof top cargo box that was missing some hardware, I found etrailer online and ordered the complete kit, which was less expensive than the one piece I needed......boom....problem solved.

This product is the best style of mounting clamps for any roof top cargo box. I use these Thule ‘easy snap’ clamps for several different boxes, not just my Thule Evolution.

I ordered original Thule parts for my 15 year old Evolution cargo box and that's what etrailer shipped. The price was good and the order was processed quickly. Shipping was fast and the product looks good but despite what others had said it does not match the hole centers or hole size of my thule Evolution 1600 cargo box so I had to send it back.

Purchased for a SportRack Aero 1300, replacing a TH05603 mounting kit, which in turn replaced the original hardware. Was looking for a quicker and less body-twisting cargo box mounting option and this accomplishes that.
Determined ahead of time that it would require drilling a new hole at each mount point (SportRack has 4" holes on center), and expanding the size of each hole as the this new kit's 3.5" U-bolts have a larger diameter - used the included rubber pads as templates for drilling the new holes and epoxy to fill the old holes that were close to my newly drilled ones.
A small/easy project with great results.
This was the best money I ever spent! I upgraded the system on my older Thule rooftop box, and it has made getting ready for trips SO much easier than the cumbersome bolt -on system. etrailer provides great service , and all parts fit perfectly with my Thule box as advertised. Thanks etrailer!
Big upgrade compare to manual screw-in connector type.
Good: easy to install, easy to lock the u-screw with a simple twist motion. Very secure, I have put about 3000 miles of travel with the roof box using these clam connectors and they held on firmly even in strong wind.
I took off 1 star because the screw hole sleve broke off the tip due to thin plastic. Other than that it is fantastic, make put up and take down roof box a breeze.
I needed to replace two of the quick mounting units for my Thule luggage unit and originally spoke with Thule directly, then was directed to etrailer for a lower price for the pieces. Etrailer's price was $40.00 less than Thule's for the same mounting hardware. Second review is, I have a small trailer that I wanted to add additional stop/turn lights. The trailer is not your regular trailer, mfg by SPACE trailers, so I purchased the two long led lights and will add them to increase the trailer's visibility when on the road. Customer service was great; packaging was satisfactory (I've read a few reviews that note this discrepancy *erailer-take notice.* Other than that, the purchase was fine with no problems.
I watched the video prior to placing the order to be sure I could do this myself. The parts arrived. There are no paper instructions and of course forgot where I saw the video. I went back on the etrailer website and couldn't find the video. I called the 800 number and Patrick quickly looked up my order and helped me locate the video again.
I placed the cargo box on a pair of saw horses and in no time it was on the roof of my Crosstrek. Two days later it was loaded and I drove from Oregon to California.
I bought a used Thule Evolution cargo box with one slightly broken internal attachment clip. When I looked online for the part I found the perfect solution at etrailer with a replacement which is just one piece of a great set.
The new clips are super easy to install and easier to use than the original parts.
I put two clips into my box and I am keeping the rest as spares.
etrailer is amazing, I had my parts within two days, shipping was reasonable and everything came in a nice, secure box.

I am very, very pleased by the service I received from etrailer. eTrailer will be my source for Thule parts in the future. As important as the easy selection and fast shipping was it was the content that separated etrailer from other providers. The information was rich, well presented and clear. As I closed the transaction I felt 100% confident that I had ordered the right part for my Thule Cascade cargo box. Several sites had the part I was looking for but etrailer's content and and well-organized web site wwas the differentiator. I got exactly what I needed and received it very quickly. I came to the site looking for a few bolts to replace the ones on my older Yakima cartop carrier's mounting brackets that had rusted out. Once there, I discovered that there is an upgrade mounting kit that is MUCH easier to install and bought it instead. I found the new kit because their site is easier to navigate and use than most sites, with a wider selection of quality merchandise. The only reason I didn't give them a 5-star rating is that I missed taking the carrier to an event when the shipment was delayed because they were holding it until a backordered item became available. In spite of that glitch, I'll still be buying most of the things I'll be using to convert the rest of my '03 Element into a camper here, rather than [other online vendor].
I had borrowed a friend's Thule Evolution and the 'foot' of one of the locking pieces broke off, allowing the roof box to flail around on the roof my entire trip. I needed to replace the piece. etrailer had the kit available for much cheaper than Thule did, and it was incredibly easy to install.
I ordered this from etrailer for my Volvo Weekender Cargo box. The Volvo Weekender is suppose to be a rebadge Thule 650 Adventurer box but I could not get a good answer from Thule or Volvo about that. Since I bought the box used, the seller did not have the OEM clamps that came with it. Volvo part number 8698491 is the standard replacement for this item. However, the part is very expensive and only sold in a kit of x1. Having to buy 4 clamps would have been outrageous, might as well have ordered a entire NEW Thule Box. Anyway, I called the good folks at etrailer and was able to ask about this kit. Since my Volvo box is a bit older, it only allows for the U Bolt clamp style. I just needed to make sure the size worked and the U bolt clamp fit over my stock 2011 Ford Explorer cross bars. The rep from etrailer promptly gave me measurements over the phone. I went to my garage and measured the holes and bingo, the 3.5 inch spacing is exactly the same. I ordered this kit at a great price and a box arrived 2 days later. I have since mounted my Volvo Weekender cargo box to my Explorer and am ready for a road trip to test this all out. Would I order with etrailer again??? YES! Without the help from phone support I would probably have been left to the very expensive other options.
Needed one Mounting Unit and U hooks for a 10 year old Thule Evolution Roof Cargo Carrier,which are no longer available individually anywhere. ETRAILER had a complete set of four mechanisms with the U hooks (Replacement EasySnap Mounting Kit for Thule Cargo Boxes THO5820). Perfect fit and the carrier is attached to the crossbars securely. Disadvantage is that you have to order all four. Advantage will have replacement over the years to come as the box gets older and the parts may not be available. Phone Service in helping me find the correct unit was excellent and the shipping time was within a few days. Con: Had to pay for shipping.
A great quick-attach solution for my Thule Cascade ski cargo box. You still have to line up the bars with the holes, but with this system you can attach and remove your cargo box with minimal stretching, reaching, and twisting. Highly recommend for people who don't want attaching the cargo box to be that day's work-out.

Good Timely delivery however the video on etrailer does not show how to install nor does it show how to remove the old parts. Similarly the [online] site does not show how to remove old parts or install new parts.

Parts were the exact right fit to replace the existing Thule hardware. The only issue was a lack of description anywhere on the right configuration parts to replace the original hardware. This hardware works for both boxes with slide adjustments for the easy snap and predrilled hole boxes. Mine being the slide adjustment type, I removed the rubber pads from the kit and all works great. Lack of installation instructions means not just etrailer, but Thule and the entire web.
Here are pictures of the replacement brackets for an older Thule Cascade box. Despite no instructions (thule dosn`t provide them), the installation was a piece of cake and took less than 15 minutes. Installed on a mazda cx9. Thanks for the great service!
Good replacement parts for the Thule Evolution box. The communication from etrailer.com was fantastic. My part was on backorder initially and the CS team kept me informed of the status regularly, I never had to ask.
I have absolutely loved the mounting kit I purchased from etrailer! My kit is exactly what I needed to mount my roof top carrier, it was easy to install and the video provided by etrailer was easy to follow and help me to feel confident about what I needed to do to install my roof top carrier.

A year and a few 40+ hour, multi-week road trips in, and the mounting kit is holding up great!! Very pleased! Have not had any issues with it becoming loose or even needing to be retightened after several days of driving at high speeds. I found it works best to stay under about 72 MPH for the least amount of road noise almost none! but we did drive as fast as 85 MPH as well, no issues, just some wind noise. Overall, great product!
