Trailer Wheel and Tire Recommendation for a 20 foot Enclosed Car Trailer

Published 11/26/2014

Question:

Have a 20foot enclosed car trailer - need 4 wheels and tires. Will be towing close to 7,000 lbs. Want a little bit of safety margin so I am thinking of going with radial - load range D. Had a good experience with Loadstar but you do not carry them anymore - was also recommended Maxxis. What do you recommend? Karrier AM32545? If so what recommended tire pressure?

As long as you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern the # AM32545 that you referenced would be a great choice for a wheel and tire as it is a radial tire setup with a capacity of 2,540 lbs per wheel when inflated to the max psi of 65.

I attached an FAQ on determining bolt pattern for you to check out if you are unsure what your bolt pattern is.

Special trailer tires should be inflated to their maximum air pressure. If a trailer tire is inflated to a lower air pressure than the maximum, the amount of weight that the tire can carry will be reduced. If a heavier load is put on the trailer tire than what is recommended for that air pressure, the sidewall of the tire could heat up and cause the tire to fail.
