Question:

I have a 2010 Chevy 2500 HD Diesel with a standard box. What is the towing capacity for a 5th wheel trailer? And how much do air bags help with the tow operations and weight? Im looking at a fifth wheel with a GVWR of 15000 lbs.

To determine what the towing capacities are of the 2010 Chevy 2500HD that you have you will need to consult the owner's manual. Another way to determine this is to look at the tag in the door jamb of the truck. Find the figure for the GCWR. Subtract the GVW from the GCWR and your result would be the maximum weight of the fifth wheel you could tow.With that being said your truck should have no problem towing a fifth wheel trailer that weighs 15k.

Air bags can help level a trailer towing a fifth wheel trailer that has a lot of pin weight. They provide additional support for the suspension so that the tow vehicle will sit level.
