Troubleshooting an LED Error Message on a 2015 BMW X5 When Towing Trailer

Question:
I have the Hopkins 7 blade RV to 4 wire flat adapter. When I plug it into my 2015 BMW X5, the top LED light blinks. What does this mean?

What it sounds like is going is that you are towing a trailer with your 2015 BMW X5 that has LED taillights and an error message is popping up on your dash. This is a common problem among BMW's. So much so there is a special adapter made to fix it.
What you will need is the 7-Way to 5-Way and 4-Way Trailer Adapter # C35FR. This adapter will adapt the 7-way on your vehicle to a 4-way and has diodes installed in it so that your vehicle won't think there is a problem with the vehicle taillights.
There is also a 7-way to 7-way version of this adapter, for that the part # 20142.
