Parts to Flat Tow a 2026 Chevy Trailblazer RS

Hi Don,

Since you prefer Blue Ox, I'm going to stick with them for the majority of your flat tow parts. Keeping larger components like the tow bar and base plates the same brand makes it easier to use as you won't need adapters.

-Blue Ox Base Plate Kit w/Removable Arms part # BLU83UR (will require minor drilling and some trimming of fascia). I've included a photo so you can see how they'll look once installed.

-Blue Ox Acclaim Non-Binding Tow Bar part # BX7380. This tow bar is rated for 8,500lbs which is more than enough for you Trailblazer that'll weigh around 4,400lbs if it's fully loaded while towing. The tow bar also comes with the appropriately rated safety cables to work with your Blue Ox base plates.

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-15267; will give you everything you need to connect your RV's taillights signals to your Trailblazer's taillights, so they work in sync and protect from any electrical feedback.

-Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System part # BLU37TR; Brake Buddy has gone out of business but the best portable braking system we carry currently is the Blue Ox Patriot. Just plugs into the 12V and has a wireless monitor so you can adjust the braking pressure and see that its working from the motorhome.

-Roadmaster 12V Outlet Kit part # RM-9332; Because the battery needs to be disconnected while towing, the 12V outlet in the vehicle won't have power. Therefore, you'll need to hardware a 12V outlet to the battery for the braking system to draw power from while flat towing.

-Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-156-25; Since the portable braking system is pulling from the battery to power it and the emergency breakaway, you'll need a charge line kit that'll pull power from the motorhome through the 6-round plug on the front of the Trailblazer and keep your vehicle's battery charged while towing.

-Roadmaster Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicle part # RM-766 if you are ok with drilling a small hole in the dash you can connect and disconnect the battery with a push of a button instead of having to open the hood.

OR you can use the Blue Ox Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicles part # BLU58HR if you don't want any mods to the dash and are okay with opening the hood. The BLU58HR is a knob that'll just need to be turned to the on or off position.

That should be everything that you need! Since its a new car, if you want to help protect it from debris and rocks that may fly off the road while towing, there's also the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screen part # RM-4750 that runs from the motorhome to the front of the tow vehicle and keeps debris from hitting the vehicle.

For a 2" trailer hitch to go on the 2026 Chevy Trailblazer, I recommend using the Blue Ox Trailer Hitch Receiver part # BLU42UR. It doesn't require any drilling or trimming of the fascia to installed and has 525lb tongue weight and 3,500lb towing capacity so it can easily handle some bikes and a bike rack. That being said, the max tongue weight that the 2026 Chevy Trailblazer can handle is 100ls or 1,000lbs towing. You'll want to be conscious of the bike and bike rack's weight to make sure it isn't exceeded.

plate worked very well. Had installed by one of e-trailers shops in Illinois. You need the AWD version of the trailblazer I used the Roadmaster battery disconnect also. Looks like the recommended parts list id good to me
