Sliding Ladder Rack for a 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500

Published 10/27/2026

Question:

I have a 2026 Silverado 1500 with the 6-1/2 foot bed that I use for my landscaping business. I carry ladders and lumber during the week, but sometimes I need to load my riding mower or other equipment into the bed. I don't want a permanent rack getting in the way every time I need the extra room. Is there a black ladder rack that would work for this?

Hey Eric! I recommend the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Ladder Rack # TH34FR94NX for your 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 6-1/2' bed. This is the complete black setup with the base rails and sliding uprights, so you can adjust the rack for different loads or remove the uprights when you need more room for your equipment.

The rack has a 1,250 lb capacity and includes adjustable load stops and tie-down cleats to help secure your ladders and lumber. It also installs using the truck's stake pockets, so you won't need to drill into your bed.

Are you planning to keep the rack on the truck year-round?

I'll probably leave the rails installed all year and just take the uprights off when I need to haul equipment. I was wondering, will the rails stick up enough to get in the way when I'm loading things over the side of the bed?

@Eric the base rails sit along the top of your bed rails, so they won't take up space inside the bed like the uprights would. They do sit slightly above the bed sides, though, so you'll want to be careful when sliding heavy equipment or materials over them to avoid damage.
