Moving Trailer Axle from Below Leaf Springs to Above the Leaf Springs
Updated 08/01/2014 | Published 07/31/2014 >
Question:
Im trying to lower my trailer by placing the axles above the springs rather than below the springs as the are now. When fully loaded there appears to be more than enough space above the springs to accommodate the axle above them. Am I correct to believe I can use an over / under kit to make this change? Thanks.

Yes, you can use the over/under conversion kit # K71-385-00 to move the axles to the tops of the leaf spring stacks.
Dexter has the following note on the conversion kits:
When converting from underslung to overslung, the installation of bump stops to prevent suspension over travel and resulting possible spring damage or breakage is highly recommended. Axle travel should be limited to the amount available prior to mounting conversion.
When converting from overslung to underslung, adequate suspension travel is required to prevent the axle(s) from bottoming out prematurely, resulting in axle bending.
