Tips for Replacing and Installing Trailer Fenders

Do your best to match the dimensions of the new fenders to your old ones.
- If a fender was damaged during a blowout, use the opposite fender to get the dimensions.
As with all trailer maintenance, don't forget to chock your wheels before getting started.
For bolt-on fenders, use your existing mounting hardware, if possible.
- The old mounting bolts or screws might be stripped or rusted, in which case you'll need to tap them out and buy new hardware.
If removing old, welded-on fenders, either carefully chisel them off yourself or take your trailer to a weld shop to have the fenders professionally removed.
Don't forget to prime and paint the new fenders to keep them from rusting (and to match your trailer's finish).
Before you start drilling, position each fender where you need it and center it over your wheel well.
- Mark where you need to drill (measure twice, drill once).
Don't tighten down the mounting hardware completely until you're sure the fenders are mounted correctly.

Well constructed, and arrived in a very timely manner. I planned to paint the ones I ordered. If I had not I may have been upset that one had some strange oxidation under the plastic wrap. Would order again at the price offered.

After a year everything seems to be well. The fenders are doing their job and not deformed or showing wear beyond paint chips from road debris. Which is another reason to have them there preventing damage to the load thats on the trailer.

Fenders look great. I wasn't able to install them because I needed to square the trailer frame. Once squared, they were too short. Entirely my fault. I'll order the correct ones.

They do not work for 15 inch wheels . My trailer had no fenders so I had nothing to compare them to. I bought some 14 ga. Material and made them 4 inches longer. I radiused the sides with a snap on impact deep socket. Mig welded them up and will sand down tomorrow . They fit great now. Thank you.

Fenders look good and work well . The original post said I extended them 4 inches. I measured and it is 7 inches . I am a Fab guy so it was only marginally hard getting the radius edges made . Not everyone can do that.

These Particular fenders were needed to replace the original fenders on a 1988 mastercraft boat trailer.. the fenders were the closest I could find to the original... They were not in stock but e-trailer was excellent in making me aware of this and keeping us notified as to progress in getting them. They were shipped immediately after they notified us of them being received at e-trailer and we received them the next day after that. They will be installed shortly and appear to what is needed for our boat trailer...Thanks

The closest replacement option we have to the measurements you gave me are the Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders item # HP22FR. The item # HP22FR fenders are made of 16-gauge steel and measure 9" Wide x 60" long x 12" tall. They can be welded on or you can use mounting brackets like item # CE26098G-2 to attach them.

Tire to Fender Clearance Recommendation for etrailer Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders
We recommend having 4" of clearance from tire treads to any fenders, including the Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders # HP22FR. This gives you enough leeway for the trailer suspension to flex up and down during travel without your tires rubbing against the fenders. Availability Of A 62" Long 9" Wide Teardrop Fender
We do have some potential options for you, but I am afraid we do not have a teardrop fender that measures exactly 62" long 9" wide. The closest thing we have will be the # HP94VR fender which is a 65" long 9" wide teardrop fender. I am not sure exactly what kind of trailer you are working with, but if you have room to go a bit longer on the fender this will be the best option. They are also available in stainless # HP34VR. From there the next closest size is a 60" long 9" wide # HP22FR....

We can come pretty close to the 65-1/2 x 9 x 18 fenders you mentioned. The etrailer.com brand Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders, part # HP44VR are designed for 14 or 15 inch wheels, and measure 66 x 9 x 19-3/4, which are only a fraction of an inch longer and less than 2 inches taller than what you mentioned. These would be the closest thing we offer to the dimensions of your current fenders, but they're close enough that they'd work well for you.
