Can Furrion Chill Cube Low Profile Replace a Dometic Penguin II

Updated 10/17/2026 | Published 10/16/2026

Question:

Our travel trailer has a ducted Dometic Penguin II that needs to be replaced. We only have one air conditioner, and I'd like to stay with a low-profile unit but get something quieter with a heat pump. Can we switch to the 15K Furrion Chill Cube? I'd also like wall controls, but I'm not sure which parts to order with the rooftop unit.

Hey Evan! Yes, you can replace your single zone Dometic Penguin II setup with the 15K Furrion Chill Cube Low-Profile AC with Heat Pump. Its variable speed compressor gives you quieter operation without the constant full speed starts and stops, and the heat pump lets you use campground electricity for heat on cool mornings. You can choose from the following based on color:

-Furrion Chill Cube Low-Profile RV AC with Heat Pump - 15K Btu - White # FR99TQ

-Furrion Chill Cube Low-Profile RV AC with Heat Pump - 15K Btu - Black # FR39TQ

Pair either one with the Air Distribution Box # FR38BC and Wall Thermostat # FR98BC which will replace your Dometic ceiling assembly and AC controls. The ADB works with ceiling ducts and also includes a remote.

What kind of travel trailer do you have and where are you headed next?

It's a Grand Design Imagine. We're heading to Florida for a few weeks and wanted something quieter since our old Dometic was pretty loud at night.

@Evan the Chill Cube will be a nice upgrade for that! The variable-speed compressor is especially nice at night since it can slow down instead of constantly cycling on and off at full speed. Enjoy your trip to Florida!
