Comparing 13.5K Furrion Chill Cube to 15K Low Profile Chill Cube RV AC

Updated 10/12/2026 | Published 10/10/2026

Question:

I'm comparing the new 13.5K Chill Cube with the 15K low-profile Chill Cube for our travel trailer. Is the low-profile just a different shape, or are there other advantages? We don't have ceiling ducts. What would make you choose one over the other?

Hey Colin! The 15K low-profile Chill Cube isn't just a shorter version of the 13.5K. Both have variable-speed compressors, but the 15K gives you 1,500 Btu more cooling and includes a heat pump. That lets you use campground electricity for heat on cool mornings instead of always running your propane furnace.

If 13,500 Btu already keeps your camper comfortable and you only need cooling, I would stick with the 13.5K. It is the less expensive option, and you're still getting the efficiency and quieter operation of a variable speed AC. You can choose from the following based on color:

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC System - 13.5K Btu - Ducted/Non-Ducted - White # FR639YV

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC System - 13.5K Btu - Ducted/Non-Ducted - Black # FR739YV

Both include the rooftop unit, air distribution box, remote, and wall thermostat. If the additional cooling, lower rooftop profile, or electric heat would be useful, I would choose one of these instead:

-Furrion Chill Cube Low-Profile RV AC with Heat Pump - 15K Btu - White # FR99TQ

-Furrion Chill Cube Low-Profile RV AC with Heat Pump - 15K Btu - Black # FR39TQ

These 15K options are rooftop units rather than complete systems. The matching air distribution box is # FR38BC, which includes the remote and ceiling controls. You can add a Wall Thermostat # FR98BC if you want one, or need it to control a separate furnace.

What kind of travel trailer do you have and what AC are you replacing?

We're leaning toward the 15K with the heat pump. Would that be enough to keep the trailer warm during colder weather, or would we still need to use our propane furnace?

@Colin the heat pump is great for taking the chill out of your camper on cooler mornings and evenings, but you'll still want your propane furnace when temperatures get really cold. Heat pumps become less effective as outdoor temperatures drop, so I would use it to save propane during milder weather and rely on your furnace when it gets colder.
