Parts Needed to Convert Haulrite Tandem Axle Trailer with 3,500 lb Axle to Disc Surge
Updated 10/15/2026 | Published 10/14/2026 >
Question:
I have a haulrite tandem axle trailer that has a titan model 60 surge coupler and drum brakes on rear axle. I want to purchase the new kit for disc brakes and redo the whole system. My wheels are currently 5x4.75 lugs, but im thinking about going with the 5x4.5 because i think it is more common and i was going to purchase new wheels and tires also. Do you see any problem with going ahead and purchasing the kit? Thanks,

Hey Dale, the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern is a lot more common than what you have now so yes I would agree it would be a good call to switch to it. To pick out the correct hubs to pull that off though I would need to know your axle capacity as well. What size wheels do you have currently? I can help pick those out as well.
If what you have is a 3,500 lb axle then the Titan disc brake kit part # T4843100 that you referenced is exactly what you need since this has the bolt pattern you want, comes with everything you need to convert to disc, and also is correct fit for a 3,500 lb axle.
