Could Roof of 24 by 60 inch Enclosed Cargo Carrier part # e54VV Designed to Carry Weight

Updated 10/08/2026 | Published 10/06/2026

Question:

Hi there, definitely interested in this product for a class C RV. Trying to plan out my storage process, can the top of the cage be used to carry any weight if items are strapped down?

Hey Caleb, while the roof of the 24 by 60 inch enclosed cargo carrier part # e54VV isn't weight rated you could within reason attach things to it and it would do a great job. I wouldn't put anything heavy on it. What were you thinking about attaching to it?

Depending on the size of the 12v cooler system I am looking at, it wouldn’t be anything that weighs more than 60lbs

@CalebS I don't see why that wouldn't work but definitely use your best judgment especially when strapping it down.

I have used this many times attached to my one ton ford Van conversion. Things to consider- heavy and I believe rated for 500lbs. I takes two people to attach and detach. Since my van has two doors in back I couldn’t open the doors fully until it was removed from the hitch. I travel up a very rough road to my mountain cabin and I have had no problem. I have a new much larger class C that I’m using for the first time. Class Cs are limited with storage so again it will be used as I haul all my supplies up to the cabin when we visit. It is easy to lock and secure.
