Do All Base Plate Kits for 2026 Ford Maverick Require Trimming Active Louvers

Updated 10/05/2026 | Published 09/30/2026

Question:

Hey guys....I have a problem with my roadmaster base plate...My installer tells me I have to chop up and remove the ACTIVE LOUVER system from the front of my 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid. I said STOP, Ill buy another base plate...but ALL of them Roadmaster, Demo and Blue Ox show chopping up the louver system. I cant help but think Ford will take a dim view of honoring my cooling system warranty after that modification. Help! Any other ideas? I do not want to cut out this system. Thanks, Jack

Hey Jack, I wish there was a different base plate kit for your 2026 Ford Maverick that didn't require trimming of the front louvers but they all do like the Blue Ox # BLU94ER. I know that seems like a big modification and one I wouldn't want to do either but what we have found is that it does not cause any issues and we've sold quite a few of these. We can't speak on behalf of Ford though so you might check with them if you are concerned.

I had to remove the bottom 5 if I remember right. I almost stopped right there the louvers do speed warm up a little but they have a different job when they close they improve the airodynamics and help with fuel economy that's what I was told by a ford tech
