Can Modifying the Lower Shutters on a 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid Cause Problems?

Ive got a 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid and have been watching the installation videos for several of the different base plates. Im leaning towards the Roadmaster but have a concern about all the changes to the truck systems. Do any of the modifications to the truck, such as removing the lower shudders, cause any warranty issues or computer control problems? Thanks

Hi Randy,
Adding base plates to your 2025 Ford Maverick will not void your warranty. While you'll need to be really mindful during installation, it's possible to install the base plates without causing any issues. Modifying the lower shutters can cause some issues depending on how much is modified and how the base plates are installed. If the actuator motor is disconnected during installation the computer loses communication and will throw a code. If you remove the plastic vanes but leave the motor plugged in, a code usually isn't triggered. Make sure the actuator motor is out of the way of the base plates and can spin freely and you can avoid triggering error codes.
Because the shutters are programmed to close on cold days to trap heat, removing them means that it will take longer for your truck to heat up in the winter. There may also be a slight drop in fuel economy of 1 to 2 MPG because the lower shutters improve the truck's aerodynamics.
From reviews from other customers, I'd recommend using the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit part # DM38CV because it reportedly doesn't need as much of the air dam or shutters removed compared to the Roadmaster Base Plates part # RM87NQ. This would help reduce the possibility of error codes and modification to the lower shutters.
