Question:

Is this the new updated shank with the dual role pins vs the single pin that is subject to recall on some units?

Thanks for reaching out Kenneth. The Replacement Shank for Roadmaster Nighthawk and Sterling Tow Bar # 910019-40 is the correct replacement stinger for the Nighthawk tow bar but is not the same as the updated kit that Roadmaster is sending out related to the recall. After a little bit of research, it looks like they are sending out a newer kit ( the instructions were created in September of this year) that is part number 910520. I will include a snapshot of the instructions which I was able to find pretty easily online. This kit includes the updated stinger with dual roll pins and all of the required hardware. We are not carrying this currently. If you are concerned that your tow bar falls within the serial number range that is effected, I would take a look at the recall bulletin created by Roadmaster and get in touch with them in regards to replacement parts.

Have you been able to locate the serial number of your tow bar in relation to the recall?

Thank you, roadmaster agreed to replace my shank even though it was outside the serial number range of the recall. They provide good customer service as does etrailer. Again, thank you.

@KennethT Glad to hear that! As I was researching this there were also quite a few folks that were able to get the replacement stinger who's tow bar fell outside of the affected serial number range. Let us know if you need anything else.
