Question:

I found a used 2019 Honda Fit DX Manual transmission that I am considering purchasing as a tow vehicle behind my Leisure Travel Van. My motorhome has a 3000 lb towing capacity and the Honda fit is around 2600 lbs. But I also want to carry 2 ebikes on the back of the Honda Fit the ebikes are 42 lbs each if I take out the batteries. I realize there is a lot of equipment required to set this all up tow plate, brake system, wiring, hitch installation on the Honda, bike carrier, etc. Etrailer seems to have it all though. Do you have a list of equipment necessary to set this all up? Thanks.

We do have everything you will need to flat tow your 2019 Honda Fit DX with the Manual transmission behind your Leisure travel van and carry your bikes. First you will need a Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521571-5 for your Fit. You will connect your Van and the Fit with the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676. You may need a High-Low adapter to keep the bars within 3" of level from your van to the Fit. We found the baseplate to have a height of 15-1/4" when installed so you will need to measure the height of your receiver to verify if you need an adapter. Most likely you shouldn't need more than a 4" Rise/Drop # RM-048-4.

For the electrical the Roadmaster Accessory Kit for Nighthawk Tow Bars # RM-9284-2 will contain wiring for the tail lights to operate from your motorhome. You will also need to add the Fusemasters # RM76512 & # RM76511 to switch off the circuits 36 and 37 in the instrument panel fuse box as well as circuit 21 in the engine compartment fuse box. This will allow you to easily switch off the circuits rather than have to pull the fuses and reinstall every time you connect and disconnect your Fit. You will also need a Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to prevent the battery from being drained by the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR.

For carrying your bike the Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack # BA12B can be used with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11406 on the back of your Fit. This rack is capable of carrying 2 bikes up to 60lbs each and weighs 49lbs.
