Replacement for PD9270 for Lithium Compatibility

Updated 09/18/2026 | Published 09/15/2026

Question:

I installed a PD 9270 power converter a few years ago. it works great but am going to upgrade to lithium batteries and was looking at the PD 9300 power converter but when I had it in my cart, it showed an upgrade to my existing converter as options rather than buying and installing a whole new converter. Is this correct?

Hey Pat! It sounds like you may have been seeing a replacement converter section, which is used to upgrade certain RV power centers and wouldn't apply to your particular setup. Your PD9270 is a standalone converter, so you'll need to replace the entire converter to upgrade for lithium.

The Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series Converter # PD79RR you were looking at is going to be the best option here. It has a 60A output and is lithium compatible.

Any big trips coming up once you upgrade your batteries?

Hey Pat, I did the same thing you are contemplating a couple of years ago. Replaced my old converter with the 9300 so I could switch to lithium iron batteries. The 9300 was the right converter and I have been extremely happy with the upgrade.

@Johnny thanks for sharing your experience! It's always helpful to hear from someone who has already made the same converter and lithium upgrade Pat is considering.

I'm very happy with my PD converter. I upgraded to lithium and my old converter was for lead acid only. I added the PD in a 60amp version. I moved it from the back of the trailer to the front, which is very near the battery. I went from daily charges to once or twice per week. Literally a happy camper.. btw my lithium is 320Ah single battery with management unit and heating pads for cold weather...

@Gary that's quite the upgrade with a 320Ah lithium battery! Glad to hear the # PD79RR has been a good match for your setup.
