Question:
How can I add electric brakes to a Demco Kar Kaddy that has the Demco DM04369 Tow Dolly Wheel Hub?

Expert Reply:
Michael, I reached out to Demco about adding electric brakes to a Kar Kaddy with the Demco part # DM04369 wheel hub, and they do not recommend adding electric brakes. The Kar Kaddy is designed to use surge brakes, so adding an electric brake system would not be the recommended setup. If you wanted to convert it to disc brakes while keeping a hydraulic surge brake setup, you could use two Brake Mounting Flanges for 2-3/8" Round Axles, part # 4-35, along with the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit, part # K2R35D, the Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit, part # DM5424, and the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator with Electric Lockout, part # DM62VR.
That said, by the time you add all of those components, it may be more cost effective to go with a Kar Kaddy that already has disc brakes. The Demco Kar Kaddy SS Tow Dolly with Disc Brakes, part # DM9713045, is a 4,800 lb foldable option.
Are you looking to upgrade your current Kar Kaddy because of a braking issue, or are you mainly wanting the convenience of electric brakes?
