Question:
I have a 2022 subaru outback and will be towing a pop-up trailer with electric brakes. I have a subaru-installed tow hitch with a 4-pin connection, as well as a 4-pin to 7-pin adapter the adapter has the other 3 wires hanging to be connected. It looks like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty RED52VR will allow me activate the trailer brakes when braking. Am I correct that this product will do what I need it to? Thanks. -Ben

Hi Ben! Yes, the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR will allow you to activate the brakes on the pop-up trailer. However, it sounds like the wiring isn't complete on the 7-way so you will also need the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers # 5506. This will complete the 7-way installation so you have the brake output wire as well as the 12V power connected on your Outback.
Where are you headed with the pop-up?

I’m using the redarc controller with a single axle box cargo trailer. The knob you install on your dash allows you to adjust the amount of trailer brake control you need based on the particular trailer load at the time. It also allows you to engage trailer brakes without applying the vehicle’s brakes to make a controlled stop.
