Can I Install the Furrion Vision S+ Wireless RV Observation on Cargo Trailer?

Question:

Hello. I am looking at adding a backup camera system to a cargo trailer. I have my eye on the Furrion, FR64AD. I was wondering, can the main backup camera be mounted on the roof of the trailer pointing down? Or is there a bracket made for this camera to allow that? I dont have room to mount it on the back of the trailer with the ramp door, since it is a cargo trailer. Thank you!

Thanks for writing in.

Yes, you can add the Furrion Vision S+ Wireless RV Observation System # FR64AD on your cargo trailer. I would mount the rear camera at the upper rear edge (see attached image) of the trailer rather than flat on the roof pointing straight down. This will give you a much better view behind the trailer, also there is not a roof mounted bracket.

The side cameras are easiest to install if your trailer already has side marker lights in a good location. The cameras can use that existing wiring for power, so you don't have to run new wiring through the walls. If you don't have marker lights where you want the cameras, you'll need to run 12V power and ground to each one. The video signal is wireless, but the cameras themselves still need power.

I really like # FR64AD for a cargo trailer because you'll have a view behind the trailer along with both sides, which should make backing and maneuvering quite a bit easier.

What kind of precious cargo are you hauling that you need to keep protected?

Yes this camera system would work ideally for a utility trailer. I would mount the backup camera on a 3X3X6 inch aluminum angle then it to the top center.

Hello Rory, you should have no problem installing the camera system. Make sure you get the "+" system because the image is in "real " time. The monitor is a nice size and I am still looking for the best place to mount it. My wife holds it up for me to see when I need it. For the side cameras, I didn't replace my marker light because my awning post blocked the view. I mounted them separately and wired the light to the turn signals. You can power the camera separately from the lights. Good luck, Glenn E.

I have a 2011 Montana 5th wheel 30’ installed rear and side cameras it’s great to have them, but I went a step further they can be live all the time with live power ran to them. So I ran wiring to all 3 cameras with in line shut off switch,when camping I can monitor everything thing going on out side by moving the monitor from truck to camper when a bear comes up you know what’s out side any questions contact me.
