Can Trailer with 3,500 lb Axles Use 4,300 lb Axle Leaf Springs

Updated 07/23/2026 | Published 07/17/2026

Question:

Hi - I have a flat-bed snowmobile trailer with a single axle I believe its a 3500 axle - 2 3/8 diameter round tube with welded spring perch - the current springs are only a 3 leaf, but other than that are identical in measurements and configuration except yours is a 4 leaf. Would there be any issues replacing mine with the 4 leaf version you carry? Just a rougher ride? Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike, yes you can for sure replace what you have now with the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Open Eye End for 4,300-lb Trailer Axles # e24SR that you referenced since you said the dimensions all match. This would be a slightly higher rated spring so in theory the ride quality would be a little stiffer but I don't think you'll feel or notice a difference. Especially if your trailer weighs closer to 3,500 lbs. If your trailer is superlight weigh and already over sprung then it would make it rougher.

What does your trailer weigh?

Great purchase, great fit, trailer does not bounce as much as it used to empty. Would buy again!
