Is the Progressive Dynamics PD79RR Compatible with LiFePO4 Batteries?
Updated 07/24/2026 | Published 07/17/2026 >
Question:
I am purchasing a LiTime 12.8v 320Ah battery and the overview from LiTime state to make sure that the charger is LifePo compatible. Your site is clear that this charger will work with multiple battery types, including Lithium. Yet, I dont see where it specifically state LifePo. Can you confirm that this charger is LifePo compatible. While I am highly confident that it is, I am changing my RV battery system over to Lithium and I dont want to later find a gotcha. Thank you so much. Gary

Hi Gary, I completely understand wanting to be certain before making the switch to lithium. Yes, I can confirm that the Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger, Part # PD79RR, is compatible with LiFePO4 batteries, including the LiTime 12.8V 320Ah battery you're planning to install. The instructions specifically call out LiFePO4 as a supported battery chemistry, and the charger lets you select the correct charging profile for flooded lead acid, AGM, or LiFePO4 batteries. Once you select the lithium profile, it remembers that setting, so you won't have to reconfigure it each time.
I think it's a great choice for your upgrade because it not only charges your battery properly, but it also provides continuous 12 volt power to your RV's electrical system whenever you're connected to shore power. It's a solid, reliable converter that's well suited for a modern lithium battery setup.
Out of curiosity, are you replacing your converter as part of the lithium upgrade, or are you updating the rest of your charging system as well?

Gary, I purchased the progressive 9300 to replace another progressive charge converter that was not designed for LiFePo4 to also work with my LiTime 230AH battery and Progressive charge converter works just fine paired with this battery. I highly recommend it.

The Progressive Dynamics charger converter works great. For my Winnebago it was not a direct replacement so I had to build a shelf for it and install an outlet. But it works just as advertised. I used a YouTube video to help me with the install. The Progressive Dynamics website is weak and outdated.

I am replacing the converter as part of the transition to a lithium battery. I have decided to work with a local RV company to make this upgrade.
