How does the NV 2.0 work with the Kuat Swing-Away

Updated 07/15/2026 | Published 07/14/2026

Question:

How does the NV 2.0 work with the Kuat Swing-Away Pivot 2 hitch? Also, how far does the rack extend from the vehicle when using a swing hitch? Ours is a Pleasure-Way Tofino campervan. Thanks.

Hey Roxane, the Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # BA22B that you referenced will work great with the pivoting adapter part # KU38CR. The NV was definitely in mind when they made the pivoting adapter so the two would work well together. Normally these adapters and this bike rack shouldn't be used with and RV like yours but since your camper van has basically the same dimension of a standard van yours would be an exception.

It does move the bike rack quite a bit further away from the rear of vehicle like what you can see in the attached picture. What kind of bikes do you have and where do you take them?

We have Zizzo foldable bikes with 20 in. wheels. We take them on bike trails mostly and quiet roads. Since they have strong bags, I had wanted to get a flat carrier and strap them on. But would you recommend that? It seems it would add even more length to my setup. If not, we'd unfold them and put them on the bike rack. I see from the instructions that I might need an adapter? Is the picture below from the product page the swing away hitch and the bike rack? Can you give me the width from the vehicle, please? Thanks.

@Roxane Strapping bikes to a flat carrier can work but it's not ideal most of the time. For a foldable bike rack it might make a little more sense but it does run risk of possibly hurting the finish of the bikes. I think a bike rack like the Easyfold part # TH903202 which was designed for e-bikes and the pivoting assembly would work best. The furthest away from the vehicle the pivoting adapter can move the bike rack away would be 40 inches. This would also work with the EasyFolt.

Roxanne, I have only the NV 2.0. We use it on a 2025 Expedition; no need for a swing hitch. But I will say I am EXTREMELY impressed with the quality and construction of our Kuat NV 2.0. We use it for e-bikes (heavy, 49 lbs each) and Road bikes ( a little lighter, LOL). Handles everything well. I do not even "worry" about the bikes being on the rack and driving 1300 miles with them in the back! I hope this helps.

@MartinP Great feedback! Yeah the NV is a VERY nice bike rack. One of the best for sure.
