I have a new 26 Ford Maverick with 4k tow package. My camper is a 23 Geo Pro G15TB. The dry weight is 2600 lbs. it’s a 9’x8’ front surface. A lot of wind resistance. Will the Anderson hitch help with sway and tongue weight distribution? I’ve never towed with a WDH but with the smaller truck I think I’m going to need it. I like the idea of the Anderson so I do have to remove it backing up.

Based on your setup, I do think a weight distribution hitch with sway control is a good idea. The extra wind resistance from the trailer can make it more susceptible to sway, especially in crosswinds or when being passed by larger vehicles.
The Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch # AN53VR is a great option because it provides both weight distribution and built-in sway control while remaining lightweight and quiet. You're right it does not need to be disconnected when backing up, which makes it very convenient to use.
Before going with the Andersen, I can confirm your loaded tongue weight to ensure you're getting the right system for your setup. Do you know what your tongue weight is with the trailer loaded?
When you towed in the wind, did it feel more like the trailer was swaying, or that the Maverick was getting pushed around?

So I have a 25 gmc canyon which is a little bigger than your maverick. I tow a geo pro 19fd, again a little bigger than your geo pro. I use the Anderson WDH AN53VR. It is lightweight, easy to hookup and take off, and no noise. I would not tow without a WDH especially with our smaller trucks. My geo pro fully loaded is 4100lbs. Toungue weight is about 650lbs. I have zero issues with the Anderson and vehicle drives smooth and level. I like the Anderson for smaller setups like mine.

I am very pleased with my Anderson distributive hitch. At age 83 I was looking for a weight reduction first of all and it fulfills that desire very well. Further, it performs its remaining functions very well too. My rig is a 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK travel trailer, dry weight 6661 pounds, towed by a 2012 F250 6.2 liter gas engine, 2wd.

I’ve only test towed it with it half loaded. I have not experienced any sway but I was not towing fully loaded or any wind. I drove 62-65 on the interstate. I’m just trying to be preventative.
