Does this adapter rattle? Meaning is the inside measurement 2” or 2-1/8”?

Hi Scott,
The B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer part # BWRHXA2182 sits flush to the inside of the hitch since it's 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" tall. It adapts down to a 2" x 2" hitch receiver, so its internal measurements are 2" x 2" to allow it to work with 2" hitch accessories.
What are you planning on using the adapter with?

The adapter fits perfectly in the 2-1/2” receiver. The inside dimensions allow for a 2” hitch setup. I have not noticed a rattling issue, but I’m pulling a camper trailer and have a diesel pickup. If you don’t want a rattle I recommend buying some larger foam pipe insulation and wrapping it around the inserted section. That may mitigate potential noise issues.

Scott, Tha adapter fits snugly in the 2 1/2" receiver with less than a 1/16" given space, which means it doesn't slide out with your hitch when you remove it most times. You have to coax it out. Which means it's pretty easy to forget about it and leave it in the receiver. However it reduces to a normal size 2" receiver space which means your 2" hitch has enough space to produce some rattle. Not sure why a little rattle is an issue, but there are a number of anti-rattle add-ons out there to choose from if you need silence while towing. Ease of use and security of attachment are more of a concern for me. But I pull a lot of different trailers on the ranch so I need to change out quickly and have strong confidence in the attachment.

I have not noticed any rattle with mine the entire time I have been using it.

I want to insert my Fastway E2 10K WDH into the adapter without the rattle I’ve experienced with other adapters. I originally bought the WDH based on my Class IV receiver and now just upgraded the truck and it has a class V receiver. If there’s any rattle, I’ll have to purchase a new 2 1/2” shank. Just trying to avoid an additional purchase at this time. Thank you for your response.
