What Is The Proper Orientation For The Tie Rod Bracket On The Safe-T-Plus F-105K2.5 Mounting Kit?

Question:
I am getting VERY conflicting information regarding the PROPER installation of a Safe-T-Plus Blue 41-230 steering stabilizer using their F-105K2.5 mounting kit. A Safe-T-Plus technician told me the tie rod mounting bracket MUST be installed on the BOTTOM of the tie rod. Your installation video shows it being mounted to the TOP of the tie rod which makes much more sense to me. When I mounted the bracket to the bottom, I found there was no way to adjust the cylinder parallel vertically to the tie rod without rotating the bracket to a steep 60+ degree angle to the ground see photo. Also, this brings the cylinder to a LESS parallel horizontal angle when taking a birds eye view top down from the anchor bracket attachment to the tie rod attachment. Safe-T-Plus told me to NOT place the tie rod bracket on top of the tie rod. I think this is incorrect. Please, what do you think about this? This Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer is being installed on a 2025 Ford F53 26,000 lb GVWR chassis under a 2026 Tiffin Allegro Open Road 34 PA class A motorhome.

Hey Jim, thanks for reaching out. Looking at your photo, I can definitely see why you're getting conflicting impressions. Mounting the tie rod bracket on the bottom does force the bracket to rotate quite a bit, which leaves the stabilizer at more of an angle than you'd normally expect. Mounting it on top certainly looks like it would keep the cylinder more parallel, but I wouldn't recommend going against Safe-T-Plus's installation guidance based on appearance alone.
Since Safe-T-Plus designed and tested the # ST28MR F-105K2.5 kit, I'd stick with their recommendation to mount the bracket on the bottom of the tie rod. I'd send them the photo you shared and ask if that amount of bracket rotation and cylinder angle is what they expect to see, or if there's an adjustment that can be made to improve the alignment. From what I can see, nothing jumps out as being installed incorrectly, but I'd want their confirmation before changing the mounting location.

Thanks for your comments Jesse. According to Safe T Plus, the tie rod bracket does need to be mounted to the bottom of the tie rod in my case. Apparently, placing this bracket on top of the tie rod places too much force from the cylinder to the tie rod and steering mechanism. They said it is more important that the tie rod bracket be mounted underneath the tie rod than it is to position the cylinder parallel to the tie rod. Thanks again for your help and analysis!
